Aerox -- using his pseudonym prevents me from making a clever reference to this game's duality allowing for a Dallas paradox in which J.R. shoots J.R. -- sent in a tip a wee bit ago revealing Cubed3's coverage of a little known DS platformer under the generic name of Chronos Twin. Reading his tip I was immediately bored to tears by not just the game's title, but also his scant description of the thing. Aerox, in the future if you're going to send in tips about games destined to be cult classics on the level of Drill Dozer, at least include some poetry or a naked picture of Vanessa Hudgens.

Now that I've chastised our tipper, let's get to the game: while my only exposure to the title has been the above clip and the two following the jump, the alternate reality mechanic employed in a game that would otherwise be a MegaMan ripoff is pure genius. I have to think it could quickly reach levels of complexity on par with certain bullet-hell shooters, but even on the easier levels, it complicates your gaming reality in a way that would suggest the presence of a Weighted Companion Cube.

I don't want to hype it up too much in case it turns out to be a terrible game, but this title has just catapulted ahead of Contra 4 to slot itself comfortably behind the next inevitable handheld Castlevania title as my most anticipated Nintendo DS game.

I have the game on my R4 and it's not that great. You can't tell when the game saves, the music is dull, the controls are annoying (your character's jumping skills are atrocious) and the whole "paying attention to both screens" gets annoying pretty quick. Oh, and the story is nothing interesting and the intro is too damn long.

Sorry dude, didn't want to burst your bubble..until you stated that Chronos Twin catapulted past Contra 4 for your most anticipated games :P

Wait wait wait. Is this game still coming out? It was being worked on for GBA ages ago, and then made the logical jump to DS. It's seriously been in development for fucking ever.

I'm just sorry that I didn't get the NIN reference until just a minute ago. I'm so ashamed...

Cool NIN reference. I don't care about the game, just wanted to say NIN rocks.

Man, I remember seeing videos of this game at least a year ago (actually, closer to two, because it was when I still read IGN), and then, nothing. This guy really fell under the radar. Is it coming out soon now?

Watching this, I'm thinking "Woah, innovation!" but then, at the same time, I'm thinking "That boss looks freaking borring."

Bosses are suppose to be some of the most exciting part of games.

Generic title, generic gameplay. Such a shame, this title just doesnt interest anyone. Although its nice to see someone else take a shot with a Metroid-esque engine. Just some game concepts dont always work. Contra IV does. Because damnit, its Contra.

The idea's good, so hopefully they expand on the GBA game a bit.

Dear developers,

Dont ever name your baby "Chronos" anything. Ssly us gamers wet our pants anytime we hear of a chronos game. We get the wrong idea.

Word Rainbowblack.

If you use "Chrono" or any variation thereoff in your game title, it better be of the "trigger" variety, or more awesome than that.

Anything else is unacceptable, and only serves to amplify your fail.

Wow, a game that causes split-personality syndrome. Looks like a megaman ripoff. Even down to the cheap gfx :).

Yeah, the fact that this article has nothing at all to do with a potential Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross sequel makes me sad.
