I have a confession to make. I told the other editors that I woke up extra early this morning for some unknown reason, but it was really because I had to see what happened when the mysterious Chrono Trigger DS clock finished counting down.
Only five seconds to go ...
4, 3, 2 ...

*site crashes* AH NOOOOOOOOO!
Okay, it's back up ... whew! The newly unveiled, extremely minimalist Chrono Trigger DS Web site offers nothing more than a teaser for the highly anticipated Nintendo DS game. Sadly, no dual screen footage or any sort of touch screen implementation is shown. A Winter 2008 Japanese release date, co-op for one to four players, and wireless play are confirmed, but if you were hoping for a plethora of new information you are sure to be a little disappointed. Still, seeing that pendulum swing back and forth is enough to get me excited.
Check out the admittedly simple Web site here and tell us what you think. Is it too basic to satiate your unbearable hunger, or are the nostalgic images of Chrono and friends enough to get you by until more info about the game is revealed?
[Thanks for the ridiculously fast Youtube, Pedro!]

i really wished it showed something new. :(
I'm Working on getting the Japanese Translated for more awesome ness.
"After 13 years, the clock has started ticking again. The great RPG Chrono Trigger is now coming out for Nintendo DS! Originally produced for Super Famicom in 1995, this title is based on that. Enhanced graphics and new content/systems that utilize dual-screen functionality. Winter 2008, rating pending ...
one to four players. (!!!!!)"
That said, I think I finally have a reason to play my DS again. :D
Damn you Square! I cant quit you!
They'll officially be out of old games to rehash.
Square needs to be working a bit more towards pulling us back in with new content.
Can't wait for this rerelease tbf :-D
"Enhanced graphics" I think they retouched/animated the sprites to look better. im happy with this. I love 2d games. look at Street Fight HD Remix. just awesome. no?
Seriously, what happened to a NEW Chrono game?
Considering how amazing Chrono Cross was, I'd be way more excited if they announced that rumored sequel Chrono Break from years back.
This is truly the height of whoring. No updated graphics? Nothing?
"Enhanced graphics"
also Square dropped the trade mark on Chrono Break years ago.
They may say "enhanced graphics" but it doesn't look like they've really done anything. I was hoping for new sprites and new animations but it looks exactly like the original. It's hardly a step up like Street Fighter HD.
Still it's exciting that a Chrono game might finally be available in Europe :-D
This should be interesting...
I'm calling bullshit. Don't let your nostalgia fool you, this is the same damn game you've bought twice.
Otherwise, there's really no reason to buy this game for the third time.
Although, this is good for the PAL gamers who have never played it. Whatever.
I'm figuring that if this port does well in both America and Japan, maybe we'll get a sequel somewhere down the road!!!!
I guess there really is a silver lining in everything.
What's the point ? From the trailer it looks like they have programmed a SNES emulator for the DS that runs only Chrono Trigger...
Thank you.
p.s.
attn: HAL and NINTENDO.
Earthbound DS please.
but I always loved secret of mana(1) over CT.
This is just plain lazy
Chrono Trigger with extra content on the DS? That is the greatest news ever.
Hopefully the playstation load times are removed. They were brutal.
A straight port is fine by me.
I am such a sucker for the Chrono Trigger soundtrack, I'll buy this port just as an excuse to hear it again. I agree with Whiteboy that the graphics don't look enhanced at all, that this project isn't being treated with the same love and respect that the FF III anf FF IV DS remakes are, but it doesn't matter. It's Chrono Trigger, so I'm buying it.
I doubt it looks anything close to the original Seiken Densetsu, that one was on gameboy. Secret of mana was the 2nd Seiken Densetsu.
That being said, don't believe anything in this trailer. Except for the title screen, the rest is all from the SNES, or it's emulated. There's still that flashy problem with the seats of the Epoch, which reeks of SNES hardware limitations...
I replayed Lufia, Final Fantasy III, and Secret of Mana instead.
This game will sell an enormous amount.
