Fans of Demon's Souls may want to venture back into the dismal realm of Boletaria this holiday season, as Sony has recently teased a mysterious event due to occur around Christmas. What the surprise will be, Sony shan't say, but it seems that the game may ease up on players in the spirit of the season.
"Heroes of Boletaria, take heart," Tweets Sony. "Rumor has it the Old One’s power will falter in the days following the winter solstice."
During Halloween, Demon's Souls marked the occassion by giving Boletaria an all-black tendency, making the game tougher and more twisted. It would stand to reason, then, that Boletaria will receive an all-white tendency for a short period of time. Sounds like a good time to sneak back into the game and get some things done while the forces of Evil are weakened.
Man, I love this game.

Supposedly you can change your clock back to Halloween to get the pure black world tendencies now but I haven't tried.
I'm still hoping they open up that 6th portal sometime(even if it's DLC)

Are you serious?! I'm a fairly new(slim) PS3 owner but god damn if I didn't play through this game(haven't beat it, other stuff to play) thinking how sub-par it was. It still BOGGLES my mind how and why people are so smitten by it! Does the final boss suck your dick or something?? The English voice acting--oh dear God the voice acting--I now exclusively play the game just to hear the most retarded Medieval-cliche drivel delivered by an obviously-new-to-English Japanese cast. The only thing this game really has is; "GRR. WE'RE A HARD GAME!"
I'm sorry to rant, didn't mean to personally attack you, I just can't wrap my head around the love for this game unless you happen to live in, or obssessed with, all things Nippon. I just barely got my PS3 and haven't yet experienced the FIRST Uncharted much less the sequel, so when someone gives such a glowing comment about this game, my head asplodes. Again, my apologies.
Demons Souls > Uncharted.

The voice cast obviously isn't Japanese. Maybe the dialog is written by Japanese, but all the voices are done by native English speakers (trust me, I'm a linguist). It's so obvious by their accent that they aren't Japanese.

I just can't wrap my head around how you think that someone must be obsessed with Japan to like this game. It has to be the LEAST "Japanese" game to come out of Japan, like, EVER. It has so many Western influenced game design choices that if you never told me that this game was made by a Japanese company, I would be hard pressed to think it was one. Hell, I don't like Japanese RPGs but I love Demon's Souls.
And the game has to be the LEAST "annoying" difficulty game I've ever played. There is no "luck" involved with Demon's Souls. You know what's coming (or learn what's coming the hard way) and then you just have to overcome it. This is not a game where you just blow through it on a weekend. The "annoying" part for me was 5-2 where you can't roll, but still it was quite satisfying when I got past it.
So I just don't know where you are coming from on your hatred for this one.
That's the most reasonable statement I've heard yet. So THAT'S what I'm doing wrong! Maybe everyone is enjoying the game more because they didn't chose a melee class. Though from what I hear it takes 100 arrows/spells to kill bosses and that's just too tedius for me so I chose the dude with a lance.
1. Roll a ranged/caster class.
2. Pew-Pew from afar.
3. Win.
I play a Knight. Melee is fine. Learn to block. A spear helps.
Ex. 1: You're telling me "DOW SEEKST SOL POWER DUSS DOW NOT?" (translation: Though seekest soul power does though not?") Is spoken by a NATIVE English speaker?! When's the last time you played the game? Methinks though remembers not the dialogue in this game.
Ex. 2: "TACH DAH DEEMUN SOLLS WIDIN ME" (translation: Touch the demon souls within me) Really? I mean, maybe its because I first played through this game recently that's its still fresh in my mind. The only GOOD English speech comes from the Blacksmith(I forget his name). I'm sure you're an English expert and all, so I won't argue that other than to ask you play the very beginning parts of the game again.
As to the Japanese-ness, if I recall correctly, the game is developed by "From Software" a Japanese developer. Being a "Western" gamer, I'm not intimately familiar with J-games, but the game just has the feel of Japan all over it(not that that's a bad thing, mind you) but this is definitely not a J-RPG.
I agree on the luck part, I like that the game doesn't hold your hand but also dislike that you are thrust into the world as if we are supposed to be familiar with it already! I'm not crying "too hard" here, I just feel the game lacks a lot of polish. :(
Most of the voice actor's are cast out of Europe, so unless Axis forces actually won WW2 and Germay decided to split most of northern Europe with Japan in some kind of administrative partition I'm fairly certain these Voice actors are not Japanese.
Secondly, name me the number of countries in Europe where they speak English as a Primary language.
Finally, can you really not tell what accent the Maiden in Black's VA is?

I was having a mature discussion with various people about the reasons why they like the game so much but thanks for ruining that. FYI I haven't listened to Rammstein since high-school 10 years ago, but I don't change usernames like girls change panties. I made a choice and I have to stick with it. OK, for you, I change my original synopsis: everybody EXCEPT the maiden in black (who STILL isn't Japanese) is a native speaker. (Might be one or two other non-English Europeans in there but I think that covers it) Regardless, The maiden in black should have a weird ass voice as her entire character is supposed to be weird. She has "eyes occluded by wax" for crissake lol
And what the hell is the "feel" of Japan, and how do you know what it is if you don't play Japanese games?
Here are trademark Western RPG hallmarks:
1) Character Customization
2) Overly-gar male characters
3) "gritty" and "bleak" atmosphere
4) "Central Town" a la Diablo-esque click-fests
5) Violence, gore, grotesquery
6) morality choices
I could go on, but just because a game is from FROM,a Japanese company, doesn't mean that the game design is Japanese. If I made a RPG with androgynous heroes with random-encounter turn-based battles and all the other hallmarks of a JRPG, does that make it any less of a "Japanese-style" RPG just because I'm American?

On that note... the guy's kind of a douche. The game was amazing and I'm surprised at how polished the game actually was.
Anyway.. moving on.

At this point I'm just gonna cut my losses and conceed that everyone is right and I alone am wrong, this game actually is the second coming of Jesus. I apologize to anyone who's opinion I didn't share.
TL;DR: I give up.
This copy-protected save file thing is a huge, huge problem and really needs to be rethought.
