Considering how Naughty Dog has gone on the record to say that Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was developed with a franchise in mind, this teaser trailer for Uncharted 2 shouldn't come as a huge surprise -- except for the chilly setting, of course.
Quite a change of scenery, huh? While not much about Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is revealed in the short trailer above, Game Informer has a few tidbits of info to supplement the announcement.
Excited? You should be. The full game debut will take place at the 2008 Spike TV Video Game Awards on December 14. Now go mark your calendar!

Meet the rest of the team
I played the original Uncharted at a friend's house over the weekend for the first time in nearly a year, and I was reminded of why I loved it so much (and why it was my favorite PS3 exclusive of 2007). I can't wait for the sequel!
@RonBurgandy2010:
From what I remember playing the first one you could choose to be stealthy in a few parts of the game. Not all stealth-based games are terrible, by the way.
Awesome, the snow parts of MGS4 were amazing and I'm sure this will be a lot like that. Uncharted is such an awesome game and in need a of a replay by me when time allows!
@RonBurgandy2010: Let's not go and dismiss the game already when we're just getting the first information on it. If you remember, the original game had some rudimentary stealth elements (you could sneak up behind enemies and break their necks). We'll see how things turn out in the sequel.
@Samit: the problem with the stealth in Uncharted is that the AI was broken. It was nearly impossible to get through an area in any way other than simply gunning through all of the enemies. You could get maybe one stealth kill per area, and then the enemies would spot you from behind their backs a hundred yards away, and alert everybody on their hemisphere where you were.
I love stealth, and I love the Gears cover system, but both were broken and un-fun in Uncharted.
@Dexter345
I totally disagree, i didnt think the Uncharted system was broken at all. I dunno, I dont wanna say you were simply doing it wrong because that's just a cop-out answer... but I had no problems with the game what so ever.
@Dexter345: How was the gunplay/cover system broken? You pressed circle to get into cover, and you could do the same crap as in Gears -- come out from cover and hop over a low barrier, switch sides of a doorway, etc.
Yeah, the stealth gameplay was definitely useless, since if you killed the first guy, everyone else would magically notice you. And it didn't help that the game made use of what I like to "magical lines," where enemies would notice you and start firing at you only after you'd crossed a particular threshold. But I have the utmost confidence in Naughty Dog that those issues will be remedied in the sequel. Otherwise, I loved Uncharted.
I'm with Samit on this one: The cover system was perfectly functional. This isn't Dude Raider, like so many like to say. This is a damn action game! It's like a summer movie, and a great one at that.
This is all I need to complete my life. Thank you God!
Hmmm this has me interested for sure but I really liked the environment in the last one so this big change might not be good. However if it's anything like the last one it will surely be amazing.
Such great news! I still go back and play the first one every once in a while - same way I do with a movie I dig. Such great news, and I look forward to seeing the trailer. Problem is, now I have to sit through that stupid award show! Ah well.
Okay, I apologize, it wasn't the cover system that was broken in Uncharted, it was just the shooting. Aiming felt too loose for my tastes, and it either took twelve bullets to the chest or one bullet to the face to kill anybody. I can't really write exactly why the combat rubbed me the wrong way, because it really is pretty identical to Gears, but for some reason, it was just completely not fun to me, and unfortunately, 80% of the game was combat.
I'll reiterate what I've said about it in the past: the graphics are beautiful, the characters are likable, exploration and platforming are very well done, and the story is decent, but they're all brought down by the incredibly boring combat, which makes up most of the game.

well dude, if you cared to play it on a difficulty above BABY, you'd know the enemies always tried to flank you...it was hardly boring.
they didn't have these extended super difficult platforming sequences because they wanted to keep it moving along like an adventure movie.
I loved the first game. Yes the AI was broken in the stealth was pointless but Im a run and gunner anyways... The only problem I had with this game is that the bodies disappeared and you couldnt shoot them after they were dead. Sorry, but I like shooting lifeless bodies of people that kill me 10 times and then I finally kill them.

*runs frantically to set VCR to record lame video game award show*

I thought it was lost forever!
I really loved the first one when I borrowed my friend's PS3, even moreso than MGS4 and I'm a big Metal gear fan

But it's a damn fine reason.
Of course, my favorite are the Christmas came early recipe leads. Those rock!
I enjoyed Uncharted and I was hoping a sequel would get announced.
Hopefully they'll fix some of the combat issues (mainly dudes taking full clips of rifle ammo to the chest).

I just hope that upping the difficulty past normal in this one will be a little easier as I'm STILL trying to beat fucking hard mode!

sure the game wasn't perfect, but COME ON
by the way, how come HD videos no longer work on gametrailers?
