Child's Play beats their $1 million goal

Child's Play beats their $1 million goal screenshot

The videogame chairty Child's Play had a really good year. It seemed like gamers and game makers did their best to get behind the cause, and that has paid off. The Child's Play Web page reports that they were able to beat their goal of $1 million in donations.

Not only did we break the million dollar mark, but we decimated it with our new total of $1,135,000! This significant achievement made this holiday season a happier, brighter one in our fifty partner hospitals. To everyone who has contributed to this amazing milestone, thank you!

The hospital wish lists are still online, and some have seen new items added. While we try to get lots of new games and more to the children in time for the holidays, the hospitals have a need for equipment year-round. Likewise, we will continue to accept donations through Amazon, PayPal and the mail until next year’s fundraiser kicks off.

They say that a final update will be released in January.

Gamers are good people. Since this chairty started, sick kids in children’s hospitals knew it. Now the rest of the world can know. Happy Holidays, indeed.

Those Penny Arcade guys are living the life man...and helping others at the same time. I'm jealous.

I wanted to donate but apparently Chicago is too good to partake in the Childs Play Charity for no hospital in the Chicagoland area is available for donation.

True I could have also donated to another hospital so I guess I don't have a legit excuse.

Just curious about / if any participation, donation from Destructoid to Child's Play? I know Kotaku had their "funde razor" fund raiser this year and other media outlets were @ the big auction.

Why don't they cover this on the news? Gamers helping to improve the lives of sickly children, talk about opposite end of the spectrum from Counter-Strike making us zealous murderers.

Somebody once said of Mike and Jerry that they have accumulated so many goodness points that they could both theoretically devour a live baby and still be considered 'pretty good guys'. I wholeheartedly believe that statement.

Also, put that in your pipe and smoke it, Mr. Thompson. How much money have you donated to charity in your lifetime? 'cause no matter how much it is, it is nowhere near what these fellows have done.
