Child drives car: VIDEOGAMES TO BLAME! photo

Pure hilarity coming out of Muncie today. A 7-year old stole his grandfather's SUV and drove it around town before finally crashing the vehicle at an Outback Steakhouse. 43-year old Matthew Sands followed the red Geo Tracker down Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard after noting that he was "awful small to be driving."

The boy eventually stopped at the steak house after Sands blocked his path and the pint-sized joyrider had no option but to crash into a tree. When Sands got out of his car to deal with the child, he suffered a final act of revenge as the boy reversed right into Sands' car.

Police are speculating that the boy learned to drive for over a mile from a PlayStation videogame.

I don't even need to go into how retarded that is.

Gotta love the awesome investigation skills of the police. "Hmmm...he's 7...he might play video games...I know what the Playstation is...yup, he learned to drive by playing Playstation games."

Because, you know, kids don't pay attention to you when you're driving and don't see you push the gas to go, push the brake to stop, turn the steering wheel in the direction you want to go. Nope, gotta be them thar videea games.

Surprised they didn't blame the theft of the car by the youngin' on GTA.

Ya I checked it out on youtube a while ago. One thing that I gotta say is that little fuckhead of an eight year old needs to hear the crack of the thick leather belt across his fat ass.

I've played Gran Turismo to death and I can't even drive properly.

The car must have had an analogue stick instead of a steering wheel and an X button instead of an accelerator.

Obviously one or both of his parents must be a paraplegic with a love for the vidya games. Thus the car being retrofitted to be operated via a PS1 controller. It's not much of a stretch to find the connection between the evil's of the vidya games and the evil of toddlers.

On a side note way back when, when my pops was taking me out to teach me some driving skills, he pondered aloud how I was not already a consummate driver after having played as many racing games as I had. I guess old people fail to see the disconnect between real life and games. I'm pretty sure that is where the horror arises from.

I'm more impressed that the kid successfully drove and only ended up hitting something after someone cut him off. Video games, helping people drive responsibly.

@mushman
I love the in-game camera.

@chicken008

you can learn the concept of driving from the passenger seat, but you cannot learn to control the vehicle until you drive it. Every car acts a bit different once you drive it.

And as for the story, people are fucking... retarded.

holy eff, when I was learning to drive I blamed video games for making me a WORSE driver, I was always trying to center myself in my lane instead of centering the whole car, and probably other things too. I don't remember very well since I'm such an excellent driver now.

Okay. Just watched the video. His grandmother should be allowed to beat him senseless in front of the reporter, and then the cop should give her an award. Seriously...that little punk needs the fear of God put into him.

Like kids need video games to teach them how to drive automobiles. Most of them get electric cars when they are no older than 3. My friend's kid has one, and he drives that thing around like a pro. Here's a link to one that looks like a H2 and goes 5mph.

if all you americans wouldn't use automatic-gearboxes, this would be a lot less of an issue... I mean I tried on 3 seperate occasions to get away with my fathers car, but thanks to stick-shifting, I only managed to get it right the last time ( by that time i was 12 allready :p )

Though playing a driving game before actually driving, I do not recommend :|
