The Neo Geo lives on in this new portable system. Yes, new. It's not quite confirmed yet, but the reveal from Japanese blog Famicom Plaza has some solid sounding details. They say that this is a licensed handheld that contains 20 SNK Neo Geo classics in its 2GB of memory. The Verge says that this system has a 4.3-inch screen, an SD card slot, and the lovely all-way d-pad from the Neo Geo gamepads.
I love the form factor and buttons, though the screened text looks a bit janky. As much as I loved my Neo Geo Pocket, I have multiple copies of all of these games. I could just dump them to my Vita if I missed them.
Hit the jump to se the list of included games, all of which are said to be in English.
If this turns out to be real, would you buy it?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Seriously guys, the PSP homebrew scene has almost perfectly running emulators for all systems pre-N64. There's no excuse to not have one if you enjoy playing your old games on the go.
Oh well...
Who am I kidding though? This isn't going to come to the us.
Or homebrew anything ever.
Psp can emulate a lot of them, some near perfect, but others are shit. I'm hoping this will basically be a neo geo with downloadable/cartridge games for true emulation.
Also nub<<<<<<<neo geo pocket style thumb stick.

^_^;
I might have to pick this up if it becomes a reality.
And I amend my equation: no Ninja Combat + no Crossed Swords + no Windjammers = no deal.
It looks sexier than the other 2 for what it's worth not to mention 4 SHOULDER BUTTONS! So it should be able to play a wide varity of games I would like to see some high graphical demanding games on it too.

Nice catch, depressing though. I still don't think that is 100% confirmation that it's fake but definitely make it look closer to it.
Further fodder for the "Is it fake" argument:
1) The buttons are the wrong order. While you could find MVS cabinets with a square button layout, they had AB on top and CD on bottom.
2) The screen is the wrong resolution. The pictured screen is 16:9, while the NeoGeo was 4:3.
also too shiny. gettting a bit tired of shiny electronics, especially ones you touch.
despite my negativity (its early in the morning here), I'm still tempted by anything neo geo.
This feels like one of those retro Blaze/Sega contributions... which reminds me, Blaze's GameGadget is a similar, and real, alternative. And it allows for legal emulation.
