Indie game developer Mr. Podunkian has a new project in the works that melds some of the best elements of Pokémon and Puzzle Bobble. I know what you're saying: "go on..."

The ideas are combined in the form of a puzzle game, which features three creatures per side, and allows players to not only play a "matching" clone, but choose abilities from different monsters to change the outcome. Essentially, it's part RPG as well.

You can see the heavy Pokémon references in the character designs, the element choices, and the battle text at the top of the screen. Right now, it looks like this is set for a potential indie PC release somewhere down the line, but Podunkian notes that he is developing it in Unity, so a mobile release is possible. Bring it on!

Review: Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc was an intelligent riff on the perils of high school -- you know, if you had thrown a murder mystery in between classes and the principal was a maniacal stuffed animal. Its sequel, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, takes a beleaguered trope and turns it on its head. This is one "trapped on a desert island" story that takes things to another level entirely.more
