Lucidity was officially announced this past week by LucasArts, and there's a video of the beautiful little game in motion to show you what it's all about. Fans of Lemmings or that old Genesis game nobody remembers about a sleepwalking kid will feel right at home with this game, where main character Sofi must be helped through a level by strategically placed environmental items.
The video shows how players will need to use springs, steps, blocks and slingshots to help Sofi get through the game and avoid evil snails and frogs. It's wonderfully animated and evokes the feeling of an old cartoon. Check it out and let us know what you think!

Meet the rest of the team
The music, art direction and animation are fantastic but as Doos says I'd like to see some gameplay of later levels. So far it's looking TOO simplistic.
I don't thnk people really understand how amazing Lucasarts was back in the day on PC. A new Lucasarts game was an EVENT... the only comparison I can think of right now would be a new Neil Gaiman comic book.
Lucidity looks great, very beautiful art style and neat gameplay ideas... really though, I am more interested in what Lucidity signifies, more than the game itself. Don't get me wrong, when Steam popped the game up for preorder for a few weeks from now, I was jazzed, but I am more jazzed by what Lucasarts could have in store for us in the coming years.
Oh, and the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight games on Wednesday? AWESOME. Thanks.

I'm also surprised by the attitude to LucasArts, I'm only 22 years old, and I still think of them as the makers of the greatest PC games ever made.
This game looks great but the gameplay looks like it was farted out during a case of diarrhea. Seems very limited and boring.
Gameplay actually looks OK to me. Maybe a little simple I guess. Are people noticing that you don't actually get to choose what object you get to place?
Gameplsy looks totally unimaginative so far which is a pity because the style is fantastic. I'd like to see some examples of more creative uses of the mechanic in the game before passing judgement though.
Should've kept it sidescrolly menuless like when the girl wakes up out of bed. Like Grim Fandago only better! Crazy worlds! Memorable characters! Not stupid autowalk put a puzzle piece in front of the little girl bollocks!
New lucasarts ip is interesting, but can it really be as good without the original guys that made the greatest games ever, since they've all moved elsewhere? Anyone remember Mortimer and the Riddles of the Medallion? Don't remember seeing any of the hotshots on production for that one and there's a reason it doesn't have a sequel.
Anyone notice the hold section. Reminds me of Tetris mixed with lemmings. Curious to see what the price for failing to avoid the obstacles. Could make or break the game depending how hard it really is.
I think I'm of the "looked great until the gameplay started. The visuals look nice, I thought the music was great and then...
The gameplay just looks like an afterthought. When I read about how you would control the environment I was imagining manipulating the character's surroundings, not just dropping in shapes that don't fit with the scenery and frankly, look a bit crap.
It's a bit of a shame that the video of the gameplay wasn't more exciting, but I couldn't tell everything that was going on, and it was only a snippet, after all.
SenorCalavera said it - tetris mixed with lemmings.
i honestly dont get why people say the gameplay looks boring, i think this is a great idea. even if you're looking at some of the demonstrations of progression in the video and saying it looks too simple, why on earth would some people be writing the game off as if this two-minute demo is the whole game, as if it wont get more complex in later levels? the short bit of gameplay they show all looks like it's on the *same* level, that level being Level 1. all games are going to look underwhelming if you assume that it's just the first, easiest level ad infinitum.
This is the first gameplay they decided to show. To not show the premise in a more interesting way is a great detriment to any hype that they were hoping to generate. The game may get more interesting in alter levels but we don't know because they haven't given us any examples.
Wow, everyone sure seems to hate the gameplay for this already. I think it looked pretty sweet. I can see a lot of potential for interesting challenges in more difficult levels. It's like a 2D platformer, only instead of controlling the character, your controlling the environment (or at least part of it).
Then again, too soon to tell how the gameplay will be.

I'll definitely still play this.
Great thing about XBLA games is there's always a demo.
You're getting there. Keep it up.

I hate how if this were a wii game it would get bashed beyond belief due to "Crapz grapicz son!"

It does look gorgeous though.

By the way, what's the name of that Genesis game?

They just need to fix some collision detection. That sorta stuff kinda irks me a little.
But other wise, I really like it. I'm not all into Lemmings, but fuck, I can handle one instead of 30.
Then again, too soon to tell how the gameplay will be.
