2 reasons, ones a theory, ones a certain
1, the theory: Game publishers who spend the money to translate the games and redo their audio want you to usually use the work they did to justify the work.
2, the certainty: Voice Tracks take up space. If its a Blu-ray it doesn't (or probably doesn't) matter, but every other medium it's going to. They aren't going to take up space with another set of -seemingly- unnecessary voice overs, just so we have the OPTION at 2 tracks, when the space can be used for gameplay, or graphics or whatever. Either use your regions language choice or turn off the sound completely.
I haven't owned a portable Nintendo system since the GBA SP, but the 3DS has me wondering what I may have been missing out on all these years, especially with the added feature of backward-compatibility. I plan to get a Vita mainly for its technical prowess (I'm a proponent of Sony's stance toward propelling performance technology), but the 3DS is causing me to stop and seriously reconsider what it is that I really want from a portable gaming device.
There's also the matter of text. If it were just about voice, that would be one thing, but you have all these boxes to fill with English and you can't remove the boxes.
Sometimes ideas communicated in Japanese take longer to spit out than they do with English. So they can't go 1:1 with the Japanese text all the way, but they can't delete space to shorten sequences, either. This is because localization studios are not game designers.
Localization isn't just a simple cut-and-paste job, but try telling weeaboos that. They tend not to listen.
$5 bets villains are involved and not reviled/fought back on site.
Anyways, I loved the Kirby ones,so I'll watch these.
I know Nintendo wants to save money and I understand it, but I have the right to voice my complaint still. I don't see why it would bother you if the game somehow had dual audio. I'll still buy the game anyway, it's not like the voices change the game that much but it's a little detail that I like.
Hate to bring on the weeabooness, but Bakemontegari and Nise have outpaced all modern anime for sales and are absolutely crushing others in popularity.
