Check out these Fate of Atlantis screens from Staff of Kings photo

Way back in January, Activision announced Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings for the Wii, DS, and PlayStation Portable via YouTube. Since then, news on the Indy title has slowed considerably. Hell, I forgot it existed until today, when Activision released a bunch of screenshots for Fates of Atlantis -- a bonus addition to the Wii version of the game.

The good news is that Fate of Atlantis looks beautiful. It seems like LucasArts are handling the SCUMM title’s conversion to Wii hardware well. I never had an opportunity to play the title when I was big into adventure games (King's Quest, Quest for Glory and Space Quest were my jam) but I was always intrigued by the diverging paths that the narrative takes depending on your critical thinking and action skills.

As far as we know, Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings is still slated for a Spring release. So, let’s hold hands and hope it doesn’t blow as much as the last movie.

I wonder if this will lead to SCUMM games on the vc... HMMM I wonder.

This is GREAT news. This "extra" means Lucas Arts has an internally developed SCUMM engine running on Wii hardware. Releasing Monkey Island, DotT, etc is just a matter of paperwork at this point. Release these babies on VC and I'll buy every single one. Escape from Monkey Island is still one of the most amazing looking games ever put to disc - I don't get why that one hasn't made it as a full Wii release yet.

Oops... I meant Curse of Monkey Island (The 3rd 2D one). Monkey Island 4 was horrible.

And with this announcement, LucasArts has gotten me semi-interested in the new Indy games. Who'd've thunk?

The only Lucusarts games I played in their day were the Monkey Island games on the Amiga (which has packed up) so I'd welcome all the point'n'click adventures. I know I could easily find these for Dosbox but playing them with the Wii wankey wand while my ass is firmly in its sofa groove appeals to me.

I remember playing Fate of Atlantis, it was so fun. The part where you had to talk the Nazi doctor to using the magic thing on himself, took almost forver. I had to click on every single talk option that appeared on the list.

The mini-games like trying to land your balloon on the submarine or barfight, were kind of annoying.

I do love this game, I have all the Lucasarts adventure games and some ScummVM compatible games tucked away on my hard drive just in case I get the urge.

Wow, first I've heard of this. That is really cool. I'd love to see more. Maybe the whole library of Lucas Arts adventure games? Honestly, that would get me to buy a Wii probably. Getting those old games to work on my PC these days is a tedious process that never seems to run right.

Neat to have this officially released. I've got ScummVM running beautifully on my Wii right now anyway, though. These adventures games play great with the Wiimote.

I loved this game. The branching paths made for some really interesting changes as you played the game.

This is the only reason I'd buy another Indy game (after that Bruckheimer production Emperor's Tomb)... but I still have Atlantis on CD, it was one of my first PC games.

Why would I go buy a product to support devs who have nothing to do with, and are no where near as good as the old LucasArts guys?
