Check out the tiers of the Xbox LIVE Rewards program photo

As already reported, Microsoft has started its Xbox LIVE Rewards pilot program. But it appears now that the invites are really starting to pour in; we've received multiple reports of people receiving email notices from Microsoft.

But not all Xbox LIVE Rewards members are created equal. There are actually three tiers of the program -- Orange, Green, and Gray. Depending on your tier, you'll get Microsoft Points for renewing your Xbox LIVE subscription, up to 5% "MS Points back" on Xbox LIVE Marketplace purchases, and more. The tiers also include earning MS Points for simply answering surveys.

Hit the jump to see the three tiers. Did you get into any of the programs, and if so, which one?

[Thanks, wh1terav3n!]

Since Gold membership wasn't elite enough.

How does one get into these other "tiers"? Also, that survey thing makes me think of all those "Do surveys and gain money!!!" ads everywhere.

So wait, how do you get assigned to a tier?

How do you get into the rewards program? Is it just random? Because I will answer the hell out of their surveys, if it means a free 100 points every time.

I got an invite to the Orange level. Not really sure what determined that, but I've been a Gold member for 2 years. So, for the next 6 months, I'll be enjoying the benefits of this until they are done testing it.

Hate fest in 3...2...1...

I find it crazy that they aren't rolling this out to the oldest members, even though it means that I have no chance in getting the scheme.

Seriously, rewarding the dedicated makes sense, no?

Looks cool. Use the XBLM every now and then, so this'll just make it more interesting.

@Volomon: 80mspoints is a dollar.

So they've basically created a club nintendo on steroids? Hooray... that's made me buy so many more games and take all their shitty surveys...

We need information...

Is this related to that number attached to our gamertag? In that case, will this reward be given for the time past or just from now on?

Is this how they are justifying charging for live? Slowly everyday PSN gets closer to the content and services that XBLA provides. I'm not saying they're there yet, but they're not far off, and XBLA needs to rethink their strategy, with a free one.

Well I'll believe this when I see the points in my account, for participating in it if it actually ever comes out. Because this past weekend Microsoft put out a call to all the people previewing the new update, to watch a couple of movie on the Zune Marketplace and than we had to fill out a survey. They said if we did it, than we would get 1200 points for our time.

However, a couple of days after that first email, they sent another email saying that Microsoft decided to discontinue this promotion, before it ever even happened. To top it all off, they wanted us to still pay for the stupid movies and fill out of the survey just the same. So screw that, because right now Microsoft doesn't know how to reward their costumers!

Fact: Grey is a very very depressing color.

I'm on green, and feel pissed because I want my 5% back on marketplace content. I buy literally TONS of arcade crap and Rock Band songs a month, and while getting 100 points back a purchase will be great (that makes songs dirt cheap if I only buy one a month), I'd much rater get the 5% considering, again, I have spent probably $200-300 on the marketplace.
Ah well. Free stuff is free stuff. Gonna be sure and take any survey they throw at me. Plus I got 100 MS points for just starting, so that's nice.

@shulamm the number attached to your gamercard is how many years you have been a gold member and the emails it appears were completely random. ive been a member 3 years now but as seen others have been since the beginning and didnt get invites.
