You can make a pretty convincing argument that Bethesda third Fallout 3 expansion, “Broken Steel,” should have been the first. It expands the original story line, allowing you to travel the Wastelands beyond the silly conclusion. It also increases the level cap from 20 to 30, successfully giving you a reason to keep playing and exploring.
Wouldn’t “Project: Anchorage” and “The Pitt” rocked much harder if you were gaining something in the process of playing? Meaningful experience points rock.
Anyway, Bethesda dropped some new screenshots of Broken Steel earlier this morning. They don’t show anything jaw dropping, but they’re pretty to look at and serve as a good reminder that the expansion hits Xbox Live Marketplace and PC on May 5. It’ll be nice to return to the Wastelands and get something out of it.

what no end game patch for us?
Anyway, I'm with linuxguy. Playstation owners should be allowed to be Fallout3 fanatics as well. F@ck you, Bethesda.
Don't you mean PS3?
Also, in light of this and The Pitt I've decided to wipe my savegames and restart clean. I've installed so many mods and custom texture packs that after this long into the game I can't remember which version is which.
Anyway, yes, it's a bitch, but it wasn't exactly a secret, plus GOTY is likely.
@lub, you mean this entire generation?
I haven't actually been too bothered by the level cap yet. My first character got to 19 and I simply started playing with an evil character, knowing that the cap will be raised soon.
Of course, eventually we'll all reach 30 and I'm sure there will still be things to do in the game at that point.
I realize this is all off-topic in what is essentially the 1,132nd "PS3 doesn't get Fallout 3 DLC!" discussion, though.
Probably because of the content level. All things considered all three DLC packs roughly equal Shivering Isles.
what our money isn't good enough for you bethesda?
@wanderingpixel:
Not everyone has the same problems. The majority of people don't suffer from game breaking glitches, but a large number still do. If that number is more than 1%, you have made a broken game which was not fit to ship in the first place. For me personally, the game is unplayable. I spent about twice as much time trying to fix it than I did playing it. Then after the first "patch" came out and ruined my saves and added 2 major glitches, I just gave up all hope. Maybe one day someone will re-work the source code like they did with Morrowind, which also shipped in an unplayable state.
yeah I'll be busy. :]
It adds new perks too right?
$50 yearly is for the bandwith and the servers....I think.
I wish they had the DLC for the PS3, but if they do it they'll do it with a GotY version at the end of this year and most likely won't work with my current save files.
Then what are they doing with all of the money they're getting from the advertisements littered all over XBL?
Also... does that header pic just scream "DONT CROSS THE STREAMS" to anyone besides me?
I hear that replacing "MS" with "M$" is also a hoot.
Made a post talking about the article at hand rather than just a single word in someone's comment?
If we could somehow refine internet whining into a sustainable fuel source, PS3 owners complaining about Fallout and Bethesda could power Nevada. Maybe one of you smarter folks can start working on that.
@Loki
Char commented earlier. Don't get your panties in a bundle.
Doesn't make his post any more worthwhile... and seriously, do you think I take anything on the Internets serious enough that I would let it affect how I wear my panties?
P.S. Please don't tell the wife about my panty wearing issue.
Very cool. I loved the first two, even though the Pitt had me stressed out for about a day after launch because of all the problems, but it was nothing really. Waiting doesn't matter, and I didn't lose money.
Anyway, I found them pretty fun, but I too was a little confused as to why they didn't bump up the level cap earlier, like in just a patch or something, then start releasing non-linear quests in the DLC, rather than largely predetermined pathing systems. Operation: Anchorage (yes, that's the name- not 'Project: Anchorage,' silly) was guilty of this, as was the Pitt in a way, except that the Pitt was much better written in my opinion.
I look forward to this, for sure.
