Check out the quick teaser trailer for an upcoming independent title called Fez (above).
Fez is an in-development title from indie developers Kokoromi, and it stars a little fez-wearing guy named Gomez. According to ElectroPlankton, Gomez one day finds out that his world has another dimension, and he hops about to explore it.
Fez is being built with a rendering engine called trixels, and if you understand game making concepts, then the lead programmers description of trixels will probably interest you. All I know is that Fez's world goes from 2D to 3D, and that the game looks like a platformer that I'd love to play.
We should note that the game was developed with Microsoft's XNA tools for PC, which means that Fez could maybe work its way to the Xbox 360 if the developers decided to go that route.
[Thanks, L.T.]

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I find that to be what they call "awesomes".
Kick ass. :D
you covered em all... It's amazing though this indie game can do that... & Sony , Nintendo , & whoever made "Crush" ; couldn't do better ( Than they Did )!
I like:)
Fezes (fezi?) are my new favorite hats.
I feel a bit ADD right now.
That's the greatest tag line ever.
Wow, they just nailed what was wrong with voxels. And surpassed it in a way that is so simple that I can't belief no-one did this before.
The music and sound effects for Fez are by 6955, who makes all of his music with Game Boy software. Awesome.
Definitely keeping an eye on this.
Did you even PLAY Crush? And obviously you haven't played THIS game so how would you know?
Super Paper Mario's 2D to 3D was neat but ultimately worthless as it boiled down to "Oh no, I have nowhere to go. Wait, I'll go 3D! Problem Solved" PRACTICALLY EVERY TIME.
Basically this game is pretty much the same as Crush minus the "crush" animation and the overhead view/crush (at least it hasn't been shown yet if it's there). It looks like it might be more of a platformer than a puzzle game though which is a delicate balance to try and keep.
Anyway, I'm all for more 2D to 3D games because it's a very interesting game mechanic, but saying this game is better than anything is just stupid without having played it.
