Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires is out next month, which is great to hear because we haven't had a new DW title in weeks. As you may already know, Empires is Koei's strategic spin-off, which tries to add a little more brainwork to the usual button-mashing fiasco. Don't worry though, there's still plenty of hack n' slash chicanery.
The trailer, which also serves as the game's intro, is the typical Dynasty Warriors fare in which flamboyant men with long hair wave their spears about to the tune of some squealing hair metal music. That's exactly how I like my Dynasty Warriors, thanks. The game's out on June 23 and you can bet your bloody arse there shall be a review.

sold. this looks awesome, just like every dynasty warriors game. but why the hell did they change all of the characters weapons? zhou yu has a bow staff? sun ce has a spear? what the hell?don't even get me started on lu bu....
RESEARCH INCOMING: I just worked it out, there have been 3.9 Dynasty Warriors games (at least, in that chain of games shown in Jim's article) per year on average besides this one, as of June 2009 since Dynasty Warriors was released in November 1997.
@ relik: they are making SW3. Given that Warriors Orochi Z hasn't even gotten a release outside of Japan yet though, I imagine SW3 is a long way off.
Can't wait for this game. This is probably my most anticipated game of this year so far (depressingly). Nice to see Zhou Yu getting some love too instead of Zhou Yun all the time. Screw Shu, Wu is where it's at.
Oh shit...I'd better go trade in 6 before its only worth pennies in trade value....I was going to keep it as a high water mark (graphically speaking) for the series.
