Liberation Maiden is one of the four games from Level-5's Guild 01. It was suddenly released in Europe last week, with a US release pending for this year. The lovely Nintendaan has already got a video to share with us of the game in action. That dude is like clockwork with his gameplay videos.
I've been a fan of the Liberation Maiden's audacious concept since it was announced a while back. The game puts you in the role Shoko Ozora, a high school student who is elected President of New Japan. What's her first act as head of state? Hop on her giant robot jet and wage a one woman war on the alien invaders who are ravaging her homeland. Sounds legit!
The gameplay looks a lot less unusual than the story, like Sin and Punishment mixed with Blazing Lasers. Looks like it'll be good for a quick poke at the very least. It may even become a new GhM classic.
Fuck yes, it's nice to see a Suda game coming to the 3DS. I just bought a 3DS XL two days ago. It's sad there's only a handful of games that interest me and the system has been out for nearly two years.

It is a great game but sadly it's over in about an hour or so. The only other problem I had was with the crazy window violations the anime OP & ED sequences caused...
Don't get too excited. I'm not loving it so far. The gameplay is pretty generic, as are the environments and enemies (so far). What's especially disappointing, given the concept, is how repetitive the dialogue gets. Not that its bad though, just not what I was hoping for.
@silent - maybe its more just that the aesthetics are generic, and that the game play starts feeling uninspired pretty quickly through repetition. You're right though - the game play isn't common these days.
Strangely reminds of a super frenzied Desert Strike with a robot instead of a helicopter. Like bullet hell Desert strike. You're right - that's not generic at all.
Still, so far I've only encountered ships, submarines, missiles, gun turrets and greater and lesser spikes. Its pretty repetitive.
They ought to do a cross-over with Metal Wolf Chaos.
For that matter,From Software should import Metal Wolf Chaos to the United States of America already. To withhold it much longer could lead to an international incident.
The gameplay is pretty generic but charming it its own way. My only problem with it is that it uses a similar control style to Kid Icarus Uprising and Metroid Prime: hunters. Therefore, my hand gets cramp really quickly and it's almost impossible to play for any length of time without somewhere to rest your arms on.
@agent9: I'm not feeling the Qubeley reference. There's not blatant sperm head on the mecha for one!
That upcoming free-to-play Nintendo game? Let out a sigh of relief. We knew the company wouldn't tamper with Mario or Pokemon for its monetization experiment, sure, but we now know which property is going free-to-play and eve...

A lot of people are betting on Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U to be a big system seller. The more I see of the 3DS version of the game, the less confident I am in that. Depending on how different the two versions are, Nintend...

Funny thing about the 3DS demo stations at this year's and last year's E3: they were mobile. And I don't mean they were attached to rolling podiums. Nintendo hired a bunch of girls to walk around the floor with 3DS units fast...
