You guys and gals all love arcade sports games, right? Sure you do. 2K Sports knows that, which is why they’re putting out The BIGS 2, the sequel to 2007’s beloved baseball bash, on July 7th. That might seem a long way off, so for now, you’re going to have to satiate your desire to drill homers off the billboards of Times Square with the six screenshots of the game that 2K sent us yesterday. They feature some of baseball’s most prominent stars performing superhuman feats, and hey, isn’t that how we like to picture our sports idols anyway?
Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter joins Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis in trying to take down the Green Monster; Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins leaps to grab a ball in St. Louis (note the Gateway Arch); Twins first baseman Justin Morneau tees off in Vegas; Mets shortstop José Reyes and Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez are ... on a balance beam of some kind, I think (?); Mariners right fielder Ichiro Suzuki blasts one in Tokyo; and Mets third baseman David Wright takes aim at the National League logo at the south end of Times Square.
2K has also provided the cover artwork for the six versions of the game (PS3, 360, Wii, PS2, PSP, DS). They’re in the gallery, along with the screenshots. Let us know what you think! If you’re not satisfied, you can look at some additional images of The BIGS 2 here and see a trailer here, or find out more at the game’s Web site.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Can't wait for this.
But you'll soon learn that when he's AL MVP!
calling it.
But I'm reeeeeeal interested in this game. While MLB 2k9 is nothing in comparison to MLB09, this game does have a whole different (awesome) feel to it.
@Dan CiTi: I would, but to be honest, I'm not all that familiar with the original The BIGS. And since everyone yelled at me when I tried to discuss 3 on 3 NHL Arcade, I've kinda been discouraged from talking about sports games at all -- even arcade sports games. T_T
You're Destructoid's sports guy and you aren't familiar with the first Bigs?!? Boooo, yak yak yak, booo.
