Disney's Epic Mickey may look nowhere near as amazing as its original concept art, but I'm still quite looking forward to it. To keep our hype fires burning, here's an intro cinematic for the game that explains how Mickey comes to be armed with his magic paintbrush and thinner.

It looks pretty cool, so make sure you check it out. I'll definitely be picking this one up, and I'm curious as to how many of you are. To me, it looks like a fun little action/platformer game that isn't trying too hard to be innovative, and I think the Wii needs more of those.

I just can't understand why some wii games have no voice acting for their main characters (link? mario?). Mickey could at least have a couple of lines, not only these annoying interjections and screams.

I'm as equally bummed as you are that the game isn't NEARLY as dark as the concept art suggested, still,it looks pretty interesting.

Fuck photorealism and next-gen graphics, that looks AMAZING.

That looks just spectacular. It looks dark, but at the same time colorful, and the way everything moves along with the camera angles really feels like a Disney film.

They really should have sprung for voice acting for mickey. The reason they gave for not doing so being that they didn't think people would be able to take him seriously as a hero with a squeaky voice.

So instead they give him a series of nonsensical squeaks and make me read txt...

Really, Epic Mickey has to have the only concept art that doesn't look terrible. And really, what finished game actually looks anything like it's concept art?

Looks like it'll be an interesting game. Due to my budget however, I believe I'll only be able to rent the game....

Epic Mickey looks fucking delicious on the Wii.

Great animation, too.

@Heichart don't get me wrong, the game looks beautiful, so much to the point that i wish it were on the 360 or ps3 so that it could have been given the visual potential it deserves... 480p just doesn't cut it these days, especially for games that tell a story with their visuals.

It seems like they're trying to return him back to how he used to be when his cartoons first came out. In trying to move away from the current image of Mickey and back to the black & white era Mickey I understand why they wouldn't want him to speak as it would only associate him more with how people view him today. Plus in the game it seems like you can be a real jerk... and it would just seem silly being a jerk with Mickey's voice....

I think it's good that the game looks like it does, and not overly WOO GRIM DARK SO DEEPPP like some of the concept art was. If you think about what this game is trying to accomplish (restoring Mickey to his roots, staying true to the original cartoons), it makes much more sense this way.

Loving the Wii pointer implementation and I'm expecting Warren Spector's story to be great, so, definitely picking this one up.

And the animation in that cinematic is SUPERB. My god. Every bit as fluid as disney 2D. What is going on here?

Did anybody else notice that Mickey's ears stay oriented the same way toward the camera, regardless of how his head turns? Is that like, a throwback to the old animation or something? I couldn't stop staring at it.

If you ever find an officially Disney licensed picture of Mickey with his ears not both appearing like that, then I will give you a cookie. Part of the licensing agreement for Mickey related things is always that his ears must always appear like that from every angle.

Actually his ears are supposed to stay that way not only in his old animation but even today. You can see it in this fairly recent cartoon (which is coincidentally also video game related).

I'm happy they were able to get it right for this game as they've had problems getting it right in some other CGI renditions. They had it wrong in Kingdom Hearts 2... although I remember it being correct in the ending cinematic for the first Kingdom Hearts.

THE MORE YOU KNOW!

Mickey's animation are terrible in this video, it's a sin, animators in the 30s did a better job with rubbish tools

Lot of people saying it's not as dark as the concept art. Well no shit, since we didn't see anything from the dark part of the game aside from a patch of road. Also, how does anything in this vid imply that Mickey isn't going to have any actual dialogue? I didn't see an opportunity for him to talk.
