Hmmm. Hopefully this will get more coverage when it's about to come out as there's no way I'll remember this in 2013.

A lot of the art looks straight up cloned from Metroid games. There is even an artistic clash in parts where "Metroid inspired" graphics share the screen with non-Metroid graphics. The big bosses look like they were made by a different artist.

You know.. people bitch a lot about the game industry. Personally, I think we're in the best of times. Not only do I -still- have access to virtually every classic ever made, but there's all kinds of new shit happening. Entire new markets have opened up over the past few years, with Kickstarter just being the latest iteration of an ongoing trend. So much cool stuff. It's everywhere.
Sure, there are some big stupid greedy companies that make crap. That's a tale as old as time, man. However, there's just a lot more variety now than ever before, in terms of visuals, gameplay, game size, control, market niche, market price, budget size, etc. etc. etc.

I agree, its a good time for gamers, except maybe online multiplayer, that is going to shit. Dead servers for most games on XBL barring the most popular games, Nearly every upcoming online PC game on PC a MMO or F2P / pay to win.

Why should XBLIG be an issue not to buy the game? I know the whole system is a POS and its a pain in the arse to actually find anything.
But thats the storefront and should have no impact on the game itself, unlike say an AAA on GFWL.

And that title screen at the end with the creepy half-face reminded me a little of the cyberpunk/horror mangas BLAME! and Biomega which is an extremely good thing.

Something about this just looks wrong to me. The character looks like a midget, or a character from another game, stuck in this Metroid world full of blocks half his height. And then there is the random palettized fancy pre-rendered 3d objects, the intricately detailed bosses, the pixel porn particle explosions. It's an odd grab bag of styles, would think it'd be more cohesive coming from one person. Could be an ok game, but the art design and the overtly Metroid looking levels turn me off for some reason.
Love where this is going. The fact that it is being made by a single person makes me feel insignifigant, thanks Mr. Happ:) I too loved the shit outta some Rygar and the main character in the video totally reminds me of it.

this looks and sounds amazing, music and guns reminds me of section z. grfx and levels remind me of metroid. guns and controls like contra. dont see the rygar influence. unless you can bounce on enemies?

All I heard is Metroidvania and I started to think SoTN ,Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission. Good times and great memories :D
Cautiously interested. The abundance of destructible blocks might get annoying, and the diversity of influences represented might give the game a schizophrenic feel. But it does look like something I could enjoy. If he had a $10 preorder option up, I would totally give him my money today. (Because at that price, I couldn't be that disappointed.)

Because I'm an asshole and I only care about achievements. The game looks kind of interesting, but even if it looked amazing and I impulse bought it... I probably wouldn't play it over some other less exciting game that will net me more precious pointless points.
