Cheap Ass Gamer receives subpoena from Circuit City photo

Cheap Ass Gamer's very own David Abrams (Cheapy D) revealed in the site's latest podcast, CAGcast #85: You Got Served!, that CAG Productions has received a subpoena from electronics retailer Circuit City.

Circuit City is asking for any and all information on forum member Speedy1961. Speedy somehow has access to Circuit City print ads before they are publicly available, and has been sharing them with the readers of Cheap Ass Gamer.

Abrams tells Destructoid that the subpoena specifically mentions a Cheap Ass Gamer fourm thread titled "uber thread", which managed to break the news about the PlayStation 3 price drop prior to the official announcement by Sony.

"The CAG community's trust and respect is very important to me, so I've hired legal representation to deal with the situation," Abrams tells Destructoid. "Hopefully, I'll be able to keep everyone updated in future episodes of the CAGcast."

Time to move CAG Productions over to Japan, I guess...

Also, couldn't Circuit City just fire all their 46 year old employees? That might solve the issue right there.

Oh, wow. Very noble of Cheapy D to stand up for a CAG member. That is awesome.

Damn Circuit City to hell for continual unfair treatment of their customers. From the presell voucher fiasco to misleading advertisements, consumers continue to add them to their "don't shop here" list. Circuit City is my last option for game shopping, I hate that place. GO CHEAPY!! May Circuit City have many Cucumber Days!

Speedy most likely isn't a CC employee, he gets the ads early for a number of stores (CC, Best Buy, Target).

I wish speedy and Cheapy well!

What's funny is that you don't have to provide any real information on who you are to sign up for a CAG account, so this subpoena seems like a waste of time. None of my information on CAG is me, other than where I live...

This is bullcrap, the employee who leaks the info should be punished, not the people who publish the info. There is no embargo on advertisements, especially with CAG.

GO CHEAPY!

I'm seriously starting to think that Circuit City is doing whatever they can to get money.

Time for Speedy1961 to flee the country and start living in the woods until this whole thing blows over.

I was wondering when something like this was going to happen.

Good luck, speedy! Your work is (was? I hope not!) much appreciated.
