Not to long ago we told you that we heard that Square Enix was working on a role-playing game with Wild Arms developer Media Vision for the iPhone. All of those words (except maybe "iPhone") make my ears perk up, so I've been waiting for a full reveal. Now we have one: the game is called Chaos Rings, and it's coming this year.
Here's the story: Five pairs of warriors are forced to participate in a tournament where they will fight to the death. You'll play through multiple scenarios focused on each pair, and only by clearing each scenario will you be able to see the full story. The battle system lets you attack enemies on your own, or in "pair" mode. In pair, you'll cause greater damage, but you'll also make both warriors more susceptible to damage.
Famitsu played it and says that they dug the 3D characters and the touch movement controls.
As you can see in the trailer above, this game looks fantastic for an iPhone title. Sign me up.

Oh wait, Jim didn't post this.
Thing looks pretty cool, but if it's like Square's other iPhone (or iPod touch in my case) games it'll be insanely expensive and overpriced. We shall see!
@Magnalon
I love knowing that. Call me what you want but in comparison serious iPhone games are always a first pick for me. I never really complained about the flat base price for mobile games but the App Store makes me question things.
Typical jrpg, but still looks worth checking out. I really want an iPhone now.
Wouldn't be surprised if Chaos Ring trickles down onto PSP later on. Sony have shares in Square, so they'd all be making more money. Win win situation.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Mine gives me a blank page.
Oh yeah Iphone, blah blah blah, Iphone's are for stupid people.
@Armis
Than sucks to be you?

why, a combination like that would be like a license to print money.
