Champions Online 'Blood Moon' update teased photo

Developer Cryptic Studios is teasing a content update for Champions Online. Dubbed “Blood Moon,” the October-bound content adds the villain Takofanes, an ancient Egyptian-themed skeleton who controls an army of the undead. According to the teaser splash Web page, Takofanes will be accompanied by an undead horde, which includes zombies, undead heroes, and, uh, not-so-undead werewolves.

The enemies come with a twist. If players fall to a Takofanes’ zombie or werewolve, they will become one. This is respectively, of course. Cryptic doesn’t want to melt minds by allowing players to become zombie-werewolves.

A new super powerset, called Celestial, is to be introduced in addition to the new enemies. According to Eurogamer, the Celstial has two power branches -- the Seraphim is all about buffs, and the Nephilim is an offensive set.

In summary: Cryptic Studios is adding at least one more skeleton to Champions Online

[Update: I misunderstood the whole "powerset" thing. It's been fixed in the article.]

It's real shame that it's subscription based too, cause I would love to try it out.

Brad is most excited because it means even more furries are being added to the mix.

I'd be all over this game if they let you play as a villain. Beta was fun but I'm going to have to wait for DC online. I really want to fight Superman.

Wow, they aren't screwing around at all. That's some decent stuff for a first content release.

Man, A bigger attraction for furries, damn. Like the this game didn't have enough furries.

What's next? A Villian dressed up like a Racoon?

Its lovelt content. other than the fact it sounds like celestials will be a total ripoff of Kheldians, and the fact they've spent the last 3 days proving they have absolutely no idea how to code their own game.

@RAB - I would never be anything less than honest!

I haven't played enough to form a solid opinion. I've had fun with the combat and zones, but I haven't had the time to dig into the PvP or crafting systems. Plus, I haven't seen, I'm guessing, 75 percent of the final game.

I have played the game and I see no reason to pay for this game

That is because you had a fun-dectomy when you were a wee lad.
And a minor correction to ya, Brad. The Seraphim and Nephilim powers are actually branches of the Celestial Powerset. The Seraphim powers focus on buffing and healing, while the Nephilim powers, as you said, are all about the offensives.

I played COH since launch. This new game plays like shit. The GFX card requirements are absurd for an MMO and even if you have decent system specs you'll probably still have to set all the video options to minimum just to get a fucking halfway decent framerate. On the official forums they suggest that you DISABLE THE USER INTERFACE for better performance. You read that right...they officially claim that it runs better with no UI. How fucking messed up is that? Already cancelled it once my free month is over. This fucking game is a goddamn piece of shit. Avoid it.

I like people consider the system requirement are crazy. I have a 7600GT nvidia card that runs it fine. Sadly people want it to run at the max setting otherwise it's trash. Gavin you haven't played he game, I can tell.. Don't need to lie to make friends. I'm a level 23 munitins/might power set. The game is good so far and I'm gonna try it with a controller, so far I've heard it's a blast..

to be honest if your interested in the game, wait for the free trail.

@Bans: Munitions is one of the few sets thats still brokenly powerful.

and trust me, if you dont have a high end pc, it'll run..but it wont exactly look pretty. I'm running it on bare minimum specs and while it runs..it looks worse than CoH on maximum.
