We met with Nyko today at CES to check out some of the new accessories they're getting ready for the PlayStation Vita launch next month. All of the following are planned for the Vita launch window, so look for them some time next month.
Those worried about Vita battery life will be glad to hear that Nyko has a Power Grip lined up. They claim that it extends play up to three times, and it works in conjunction with the Vita's internal battery and charges with the Vita adaptor. There's adjustable and retractable grips on the back of the unit. It looks like it will add a bit of bulk, but the tradeoff is not having to look for a power plug every four hours.
We also saw a prototype of the Vita Speaker Stand. It's a powered sound and charging solution, and it comes with a small remote control to control music and movies. I think this would be nice to watch Netflix with.
There's also a couple of basics you'll need at launch, and Nyko has those covered. The Vita games and memory cards are tiny, so the game case could save you from losing them. It holds 10 game cards, but little slide-in adapters will also let you store 4 memory cards. This will be priced at about $5.99. A power kit comes with both car and wall chargers, and the detachable cord has a USB base to let you also charge from your PC.
