The PC version of Dark Voidsounds cooler than its console counterparts. Earlier this afternoon, official Capcom blog Capcom-Unity laid out the differences, telling its readers that this version of the vertical shooter features enhanced physics courtesy of NVIDIA’s new-fangled PhysX tech. Think particle systems.
In an effort to make James Cameron proud (or jump on the CES hype train), Air Tight Games has rigged Dark Void to support NVIDIA’s GeForce 3D Vision crap. This means plenty of headaches and more than a fair share of embarrassment once one of your buds catches you with those dumb glasses on.
Sorry, nVidia, but you lost me this round of cards. You just can't compete with ATi for the money.
That said, I await what they launch with DX11 in the door. Plan on getting a low-end DX11 card in a couple of weeks and then upgrading later when I feel like it.
I have an nVidia card for the moment, a GTX 275, and I still hate this shit. ATI cards can do the same stuff nVidia just pays these companies to lock it out for ATI.
I want to go ATI in a couple weeks for the 5870 and some minor physics effects are not going to stop me. Instead I will simply be punished for buying the better card on the market... ridiculous.
No ounce of Nvidia could save the game, it is destined for the bargain bin in my opinion. Demo did not impress me at all, it was ugly, and the controls sucked.
hate hate hate hate. ill hate on this game until it inevitably slips into obscurity. they screwed the pooch on the mechanics, and the graphics scream "launch title"
I'm getting a gaming pc soon. All I had originaly was a wii. I can't believe I can get this game plus the mods that are (read as will) come. That's why pc games are much more flexable. Don't get me wrong I love consoles but I love the creativity in mods.
Oh yea, building your own rig is SOOOO much cheaper. I think I saved at least 50% of my money by building my own computer than buying one. But then again, making sure the parts all work together is kind of a bitch.
I find the best asset to make sure you get matching parts and such is a PC hardware site like newegg.com. It has bundles with three or four components together for one low price and they are promised to work together.
Also, I'd suggest not shelling out more than $200 on a GPU, they are the parts that depreciate the fastest and you'll just feel like you wasted loads of money. Right now a Radeon 5770 or 4890 are both great cards (depending if you want DX11 or a little more power) and are a bit south of the $199 border.
not Stinging is correct. You do NOT need a $200+ GPU. You can check the frame rates I link to in my blog to see. a $150-$170 will run at 1080 without much problem.
Also once you own a case, a HDD, a PSU, and an optical, you NEVER HAVE TO BUY THESE AGAIN, making a PC upgrade VERY cheap.
And its fair to assume that b/c all those who spent $300 on an xbox never use it anymore, while a good case and PSU can last 10+ years and HDD's can often last that long too.
So when pricing a PC, ONLY the upgradeable parts should be costed. Its not like I say you spent $700 on an XBOX and a Xbox 360. We always just compare the last console.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
That is all.
They're still fucking improving Half-Life 2 for fucks sake.
I hate you guys.

Actually, no. To be honest, that effect looks like it could really, really annoying.
You don't need $2,000, I built my recent rig for under $1,000 and it maxes every single game out there except GTA4.
Case - $50
Ram - $100
PSU - $100
Mobo - $150
Processor - $220
GPU - $250
Total = $870, with taxes and shipping you're looking at $1,000 and you got a high-medium rig that can max anything at 1080p resolution. Boom.

Don't forget Hard drive and DVD drive :)
