You've no doubt already heard the big news in regards to SoulCalibur 4 earlier today. Well, now we have a new trailer of Darth Vader and Yoda in action in SC4. It's not much really, but it's enough to get everyone's panties wet. Yoda uses the force to stop an axe from hitting him and Darth Vader goes sword to sword with a fighter ... even though, technically, the Light Saber should go through any type of object ...

Also, we just found out that Darth Vader will only be on the PS3 version whereas Yoda will only be on the Xbox 360 version. So there goes that epic dream battle. I still can't get over crazy this is!

Splitting them up is a TERRIBLE idea. They better be available as DLC.

Also, Leonidas from 300 would have been an awesome inclusion.

I do understand that this is like a nerd's dream come true (including mine, I guess!), but the more I think about it ... I don't know ... it just seems too strange. Is it just me?

Just for the record, in case anyone doesn't know, this isn't the first time that Star Wars characters have been in a fighting game. Back in 1997 they release a game called Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi for the PS1 which was a Star Wars fighter.

Lawesome?

I don't know. While Link was kinda silly, at least he fit the theme. Yoda and Vader don't really.

However, I still hold true to my belief that Ivy is one of the hottest pieces of ass in all of gaming.

I'll restate what I just stated in the last post:

Oh that fucking BLOWS!

I'll be getting the X360 version but I'd MUCH rather have Vader over Yoda (I think most people would). That and I wanted to pit the 2 against each other. Just make them the same NAMCO! I can understand that strategy with SC2 since they used console specific characters but fucking COME ON ZOMG01!!

The sad part is that if they offered Vader as DLC, I'd probably pay for it.

What a load of crap to split them up.

I guess everyone's getting Yoda'd then.

Namco's got a stupid idea of how to split up the pair of them.

Also, yeah. The trailer is beautiful. The seriousness of the Star wars part makes the mash-up seem a little goofy though. Still loving the idea though.

Can't wait till this fucks up the balance of the game and people can't decide which version of the game to use; that is unless this is coming out for the arcades and has neither, at which point it's totally fine.

This is the most retard/awesome thing I've ever seen!

It doesn't make snese but on the other hand I can play as darth vader... oh well. I wonder why namco-bandai was able to secure the license to use them.

Am I the only one who thought that in motion the game looked like utter shit? I felt like I was watching SC2. Except Ivy is like even more naked...

@ Tronn:

Wii version should get Obi Wan. But I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter, Namco would incorporate shitty motion controls, screwing the game up.

Or maybe Grevious.

Four armed Wii-waggle sword play may be a hoot.

Plus Grievous matches the apparent color scheme thing they got going here.

360 Green = Yoda

PS3 Black = Vader

Wii White = Grievous.

And yeah, I know they aren't going to make a Wii version of SC IV. It's fun to pretend!
DinnertimeNinja's Avatar - Comment posted on 01/09/2008 20:27

Well, if they're segregated as they're currently planned it won't mess up the balance at all since neither of them will likely be allowed in tournies. (just like in SC2)

And now, to my oppinion.

This is GAYTARDED!

Honestly, give me a break. Link/Heihachi/Spawn actually LOOKED like they could fit in the SC universe but this is just a HUGE stretch. And a stupid one at that.

I couldn't care less about Star Wars and I think the majority of the gaming populace (who I'm pretty sure share in that opinion) are going to see this and think, "How is this supposed to make me want to buy SC4?"

DAMN IT NAMCO! Stop wasting time on crap like this and actually work on the DAMN GAME!

360 Green = Yoda

PS3 Black = Vader

Wii White = Grievous.

PSP = Mace Windu

DS = Luke

PS2 = Anakin Skywalker

Cell Phones = Obi-Wan

haha j/k, but put them all together you have a star wars fighting game. Namco just needs to team up with Lucasarts
