As you may have noticed from the Community Blogs and Forums, today is Destructoid's fourth birthday. It's hard to believe we've been around for four years already and it feels like time has just flown by.
I remember when GorillaMask and DoubleViking, two comedy portals I used to frequent a lot back in 2006, linked to Destructoid the day it was born. I was hooked the second I visited, largely in part thanks to Niero's writing style. It was raw and real -- something I never felt when visiting other gaming sites -- and I kept coming back for more because of it.
I was a lurker for the first couple of months of hanging out around Destructoid. Then one day I felt inspired and did two things: Signed up for the forums and pestered Niero with videogame related finds from around the Internet (I was the original Joe Burling.) After a couple of weeks of doing this, Niero told me to stop and start writing for him instead. Three years later, I'm now the Community Manager to this site that has legitimately changed many people's lives, mine included.
So that's one of my favorite stories related to Destructoid, in a nutshell. What about you? We have a thread going on over in the Forums where we want you to tell us your favorite Destructoid memories. The Community Blogs are also blowing up with people sending their happy birthday wishes to Destructoid and Niero. Or just feel free to leave a comment here with your favorite memory and/or birthday wishes.
Happy birthday Niero and Destructoid!

Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Also, happy birthday Jim Sterling!
Wait, wut?
Happy birthday peeps! I'm glad I was able to meet most of you last year at E3, and I hope I'm able to see most of you again.
Happy Birthday! Though at four, you guys should really stop wearing diapers around the office now!
I was talking about Destructoid of course.
Unfortunately, being from Brazil, I never went to PAX or any Destructoid event, so I don't know any members of the community personally. But since I listen to most Podcasts and read almost every single post here, I feel like I know a lot of you people. And let me tell you, this is the best online community I know.
Congratulations to all the Dtoid staff for being so amazing for four years. And who knows, maybe I'll go to PAX someday, and I'll meet some of you.
Happy Birthday!
Why is that not Chad singing in the picture?
Keep it up DTOID team!
Also cocks!
Good work guys, keep it up! Dtoid is still the only site I visit for gaming news/reviews/crazy shit.
Happy birthday, Niero and Destructoid. Alsococks.
ps: My story is short, don't even know how in hell did I end up here or how did I find this site, but I got stuck in here, because I laugh my ass off every day, and there are so many news I can't even follow everytime.
So yet again: long live Mr. Destructoid,
from your noname reader from Hungary ;>
Just as soon as I get a job and money and all those other things I hear normal people have...
I love this site.
1000 cocktails all around!
Also, sweet story, Hamza!
