I was never interested in the series because, well, I thought the gameplay looked meh. However, this spin-off looks interesting. Looks like Vanquish with a cel-shaded style. I'm intrigued. I'll keep an eye on this one.
I just saw this a few minutes ago and the response in the comments has been kind of tepid.
Personally, I could not be more excited. It looks like Valkyria Chronicles, meets Space Channel 5, meets Lost Planet. I am totally down for a new action shooter, and I'll definitely get this on day 1.

I'll consider the 3DS version, as it's less likely to have content locked away, I refuse to support Capcom on consoles until they get thier shit together.
Do games with art styles like this not sell well? I was thinking last night playing witcher 2 that it would be awesome if the game itself was in the style of Geralt's memories. I don't always understand why games struggle to look "realistic" when if they go for an illustration/cel-shaded look they can do so much more. For example, the original style for borderlands was boring and "realistic" and then they changed it to awesome! Anyway - this looks rad!
the PS3/3DS pair-up makes more sense if you think about marketability. PS3/3DS hold the most market in Japan, likely where this would sell best. Usually seems to be up in the air for anime-inspired games to get sent to Western Markets.
If the gameplay on the 3DS looks similar to Megaman Legends 3 concept, I will sit back with a gigantic tub o' popcorn and watch the frothing rage and conspiracies fly.
Lost Planet via Gundam with cute protagonists? I’m so down. Someone in the youtube comments nailed it: this is the first real capcom game in a while.
Although I wish it were a little less anime-inspired, mostly because that particular look does seem to do very well in the states commercially and for me it's a bit too "cute." Still looks very cool though!
I didn't have much interest in Lost Planet, but I'm digging this. Music was good, and I like stylish games. I'm down.

As far as The Witcher goes, the developers were trying to keep the game as true to the source material (the books) as possible, and I think anything other than it's eventual aesthetic just would not have fit the gritty vibe you get whilst reading the novels.

Looks effing amazing and I'd play the hell out of it. But I'll never get to because it'll never be localized for North America. I'm convinced that anything that has anything to do with Monster Hunter will never make it over here ever again. :,(

I loved the first one, the second one was ok, so I was gonna overlook this spin-off, but after seeing this I wanna run out & pre-order.
Meh. I know someone here will think I'm some mouth-breathing western trog for having not lost even one sperm over this, but it just does nothing for me. The 'Japanese-ness' present here just seems too much for me to bear. It's like a shit anime that I can play. Yay!

The one franchise where one would expect Capcom to Westernize everything further adopted a more animesque style of all things? That is a genuine surprise though not necessarily well advised.
I would have expected them to throw in a Sigourney Weaver duplicate and a Lance Henriksen clone at the very least with the Heavy Loader from Aliens as a downloadable VS, not more flamboyant versions of Soukou no STRAIN characters.

No it doesn't, Gun Valkyrie had a lot of horizontal and vertical movement, the whole point of that game was to stay in the air. This just seems to have quick dodging to the left and right.

So they replaced the generic soldiers with generic anime characters, covered them in pastel colours, and sped the game up 10 times. Cool.
I actually liked the Lost Planet games, but this looks... not good.

It's not a spinoff, it's them trying to make something to sell in Japan, since the new outsourced one won't be able to push a single copy over there (or here most likely).

It was never bad to buy Nintendo Capcom games, as they never did any of that dlc crap with them. ^_^;
Also, Capcom Filed a trademark for "EX Trooper" last year for America, so maybe it is coming....^.^

SHUT UP AND GIVE ME BACK MY MEGAMAN, DAMMIT! This looks like they recreated Lost Planet on Okami's engine. It looks distinctive, but has nothing on Valkyria Chronicles/Ni no Kuni's level of cel-shading fidelity. Character designs seem pretty uninspired and having a Masked (possibly religious leader) Antagonist is so passe. Could be great if it was something tongue-in-cheek though.
The Art style an on-screen SFX remind me heavily of XIII.

Only thing wrong with lost planet was the control scheme, this looks like a devolution in more ways than one.
