This is very intriguing. I want more "cyberpunk" games and with CD Projekt's caliber, it should be a good show.
Well the Witcher 2 has thoroughly impressed me! I love the grandeur of Skyrim and will defintely be back in time for Dawnguard but there is just something about W2. I think it just has more of what you call SOUL & ATMOSPHERE. CD Projekt put alot of energy into their work and I expect no different with this much anticipated SCI-FI RPG. Looking forward to Cyberpunk!
I can't wait for more details and some media! I watched the presentation live and there were also some pretty significant GOG.com announcements too.

This shit's all up in my radar. Since 'Cyberpunk 2020' was based on the works of William Gibson, I'm expecting this to essentially be 'Neuromancer: The Game.' And coming from CD Projekt Red, there's no way this game won't be fucking mind-blowing.

I would hope PC as lead platform then ported to PS4/720/Wii-U. They should ditch the 360/ps3, especially if the game isn't coming out till 2014. Otherwise they'll spend too much time holding back visually to make sure they can port to the old platforms.

I can always use some good cyberpunk, and with CD Projkt Red at the helm, I'm pretty dam excited at the idea of it all.
Lol. Cyberpunk isn't hard sci-fi. Anyway, there need to be more cyberpunk games like Deus Ex, System Shock, Syndicate (Bullfrog ones) and Shadowrun so this is a welcome treat.
Does anyone remember Bloodnet by MicroProse? that was the finest, but also flawed vampire cyberpunk RPG I have ever played (also probably the only one in existence). I still can't make sense of a a lot of shit in it but the atmosphere and art direction was fantastic.

It most certainly is. Hard sci-fi is basically just science fiction that focuses on the technology of the story world. It is a major part of the plot; the story is completely reliant on it. I can't think of a single Cyberpunk story that doesn't do that. Hard sci-fi also refers to stories where the technology comes with a feasible explanation, but such explanations are not always required of hard sci-fi.

The Witcher 2 already sold over a million before the XBox 360 version, so that means it sold less than 700 000 there? I thought it would be more than that.
Cyberpunk 2020 is a REALLY 80s property even though the game is currently in its 3rd edition printed a few years ago. It's heavily stylized, focused on action, downplays the grittier aspects like drugs, and it's a pretty good system if you like killing dudes and looking good while doing it. I've played a few sessions with my friends but there are other titles we prefer. Being made into a video game may respark my interest.

This sounds amazing. As much acclaim as Deus Ex: Human Revolution got, I could never really get into it. I'm all for an alternative for cyberpunk RPGs, it's not exactly a busy subgenre.
I'm all for Sci-fi games, specifically hard Sci-fi kind. If CD Projekt is going to do this after Witcher, then count me fully interested.

The first thing I thought when I heard about this game is, I hope the entire CD Project staff have read Neuromancer!
If the game is a little more even-handed in its depiction of the sexes, than I'd be willing to give it a shot. In both games all that sexual conquest Geralt had with all the impossibly buxom women that happened to surround him at all times just kind of turned me off of the series, as good as it is besides.

As a Witcher, Geralt can't get STDs and can't get women pregnant. It's sort of natural that anyone would take advantage of that to sleep around. And while the cards were kind of tasteless, Geralt himself, in the game, never treats women like "conquests" imo. It's just, you know, sex. People do it.

I picked up the rulebook for this game (has that image on the cover) a couple years ago at a used book store for a couple bucks. It's just been on my shelf, but I'm starting to check it out now. It definitely takes the *punk* part of cyberpunk as important:
"To achieve the essence of the 2000's, you need to master three concepts:
1) Style over Substance
2) Attitude is Everything
3) Live on the Edge"
When making a new character the first thing you roll is your dress style lol. The artwork (obviously) is very 80s, from the big hair to the crazy clothing. CD Projekt did an amazing job with 'wardrobe' in The Witcher 2, hopefully they can do something interesting with this, too. They are certainly going to have a lot of cool source material to work with. My only concern is that they might not "get" the UK/US 80's pop culture influences.

I never got the Witcher. Didn't seem like it was for me. This, on the other hand, I'll be keeping a very keen eye on.
