CD Projekt adding nudity to The Witcher with Director's Cut photo

CD Projekt RED is adding nudity to the North American release of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition. Recently, the studio announced The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut, a free upgrade as well as yet another full digital release, of The Witcher. According to the game’s official Web site, it’s “the version of the game our developers originally intended for you to play.” The Director’s Cut is essentially the European release. It’s a version that features frontal (female) nudity.

Owners of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition will be able to download the Director’s Cut -- which also contains Patch 1.5 -- for free. The Witcher virgins will be able to buy the Director’s Cut via a variety of services: Steam, Impulse and Direct 2 Drive.

The release date of Director’s Cut hasn’t been announced yet, but we'll keep you in the loop. Any opportunity to talk about naughty bits and The Witcher will be taken.

I think, sadly, the xbox version has been canceled.

Consoles can do RPGs, granted not as well as PC, but they're good. Mass Effect is fucking great, and that was console only for a while.

But yeah, I used to view console RPGs as JRPGs. Hideous.

I've honest to god been trying to get around to playing this for the last two years, and I've still yet to put more than five hours in. Why? It seems awesome!

I like how you clarified that it was female nudity. Because male nudity would make it a total no-no?

@jsutcliffe that would all depend on if you bought the loast and damned or not

There is some bush but the nudity isn't that big of a deal TBH (which sort of proves how ridiculous it was for it to be removed in the first place).

Maybe the ESRB finally slacked up a bit so M-rated games finally can achieve the same amount of nudity as R-rated movies?

I still think about the time where I went to Best Buy. I bought 2 things: American Psycho, uncut edition and Dead or Alive Xtreme2

I got carded for the Beach Volleyball -_-

Do we really need nudity in games? Not from a care-bear perspective here, but... there's plenty of free porn on the internet, I don't need it in my games. If anything it just adds to the stereotype that games are just cesspools of filth.

“the version of the game our developers originally intended for you to play.”

That should be the original release, duh.

@ jpitner
You ask if we need nudity in games... maybe some of us do. That is for the developer to decide. You don't ask if we need nudity in film or magazines, I find it ironic that you feel this could be a reason that games are seen as "cesspools of filth" when the only way games are gonna be seen as a valid, mature medium of entertainment is if the same rules that apply to other mediums apply to games.

rpgs on consoles? LOL!!!!!!111111two

Just ignore the success of Oblivion, Fallout 3, Lost Odyssey, and pretty much 1/3 of all console games as a whole. "LOL" indeed.

This game should come to Xbox, if not just to show the common consumer how WELL ethical choices can be presented in games.

I'd recommend everyone with a PC to pick this up.

Ugh. I guess I'll try installing it AGAIN, though it probably still won't work because ATI cards fucking suck.

LOL. I've never heard of this game. Judging by the picture I'm thinking it has orcs or goblins in it? Nothing I like more than see a green goblin get naked.

@ Wedge,

Works fine on my ATI 4850. So does anything else that I throw at it.

@ Rammstein,

Oblivion and Fallout 3 are two great examples of RPG's that are by far superior on a PC. So it's funny you mentioned those. And Lost Odyssey is a JRPG which everybody already mentioned.

You need more examples.

Love this game. And for those that already have the game, there's a patch for the, 'nudity,' for the game. Which consists of one Dryad druidish type woman and nude, 'Cards.' So it's not even that big of a deal if that's the only reason you're going for it. Once you see what they censored, you'll have even more reason to be like, "What the fuck," to our idiotic ESRB.

The base game already has some nudity without any patches. Nothing major though.

The game is great, the nudity thing is because the fantasy world The Wicther is set on demanded it. And lets be serious, there is not a lot of nudity. A green elf (naked), is the only character I can remember naked. Then you got the cards you get everytime you get laid.

Get the game if you have a capable PC. I dont understand why is not in STEAM allready.
