@Teta: If you're a fan of old-school platformers, get it. Seriously, don't doubt for even a second, just get it. It's one of the most polished games I've ever played, it's fantastic. Had this been released in the SNES days, it would've been remembered as one of the all time greats.
Even if you don't want to pay for it, download the free version, and play it. Buy it after you complete it if you liked it. I would recommend playing it with old music and graphics if you go for the Steam version.
Several dollars are at stake, here!!
I think I'll hold off on this, I just want it to play the new level. How far do you have to get to make it to the Sky Fortress (think that's what it's called...)?
Yea, I do. Forgot about that thing. My weapons are kind of shit, I traded for the machine gun. I'll give it another shot though.
I wouldn't mind if someone other than Nicalis did this though, I feel like they are not doing the game justice, even with Pixel on the team. They're just adding some pixels, screw up the soundtrack, and releasing it as a Nicalis game, taking all the glory. *sigh*.
I'll still buy this though.
It was extreme pain trying to finish hidden finale, when you got a bunch of unskippable interruptions. How many times do you need to read the same story, just to die crushed by a boulder few seconds later ... and repeat.
I've only played the freeware version and it's been a while, but I remember that the game only showed you each of those dialog boxes once per session. In other words, if you get the first few text boxes and then get killed by those infuriating boulders, those boxes shouldn't show up again until you close the game window. If that's not the case on WiiWare and 3DS, I guess it's just another unfortunate oversight.
But I just bought this, because it's that damn good. I mean, who ever expected to see Cave Story up there with the likes of Serious Sam 3 and Arkham City on the Steam new releases list? It's remarkable how far Pixel's little project has come.
When you combined the bits of level you sometimes had to go through and the dialogues, you could end up spending more time trying to restart a new boss fight than you spend in the boss fight itself.
will have to double dip this now :\
and yes if the game were released back during the SNES days thus would have been in the top of the game :P
