Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

We are having a yard sale. According to Famitsu, Cave's infamous shooter DoDonPachi: Dai-ou-jou (seen in the above video) is on its way to Xbox 360, along with Ketsui, another beautiful Cave shmup.

As far as we know, this is a Japan-only release with both games published on disc format, but we can always hope and pray they'll make it stateside, right? I mean, they released Wartech: Senko no Ronde in North America, and that wasn't even very good. At the very least, we can hope that developer 5pb, who is handling the 360 port, won't region lock the games.

This is the part where you go start a petition. Hop to. And show me where to sign.

Fun fact: The Japanese version of PSN is packed full of shooters. There's even a category for them under downloadable game genres. So while you're stuck playing Super Rub-a-dub, kids in the motherland are enjoying R-Type Delta.

This is why you should be downloading Triggerheart. Show them we want shooters, and shooters we can has.

I seriously screamed out loud when I heard about Ketsui this morning. I played it when I was in Japan a few years ago and fell in love. It has not been emulated and has never been ported. The arcade board currently fetches about $1500 on ebay/Yahoo Japan...... Man I've got a fucking hard on thinking about this.

DDP:Dai-ou-jou I have for the PS2. Great great game from a great series. Don't confuse it with the new DDP:Daifukkatsu which is coming to arcades. (and hopefully home consoles)

Not to double post, but I just watched some Ketsui vids and those compound complex bullet patterns were making me swoon. Twisty like Progear, I love it.

Can't someone just create an adapter so I can use my Dreamcast controller on my 360? Is that so much to ask?

I agree that the d-pad sucks, but I really don't see a problem using the stick, i even use a 360 controller on my not-emulators and use the stick on SNES games. And I was raised on SNES and NES, so its not like i'm jaded by the current generations.

are you content on playing Shmups with a D-Pad? or are not up for shelling out $60 on a HORI Stick? in case you didn't get my memo in the RFGO epi 39 comments Fry's Electronics has a ton of sticks in stock if you want to get one in store and not online (at least they have them here in Northern California)

@Kapkomi- yeah, I heard. I'l probably get one eventually, but when you don't want to drag out the arcade stick, it's nice to be able to sit back on the couch with a cold beer and a d-pad. If you have one that works, that is.

Great news, I just hope we see the DS cut of Ketsui Deathsmile, that Cave have in development with Arika, alongside the XBLA version.

Check you tube for videos of the DS version.

Maybe they should push out Pro Gear too, that game is awesome.

The more I get into SHMUPs the more I want to buy an XBOX 360 just for the XBLA downloads... but the controller, ugh. At least PS3 is getting their dual shock back. Microsoft still bites the dust when it comes to controllers for me. But then again, I'm still saying "meh" to the next gen consoles, so what do I know...
