The more I see of R.U.S.E., the more I begin to like the seamless switch from action unfolding like a typical real-time strategy game to everything turning all board game-y. The same could be said for the smooth-talking narrator of these videos.
In today's clip, we get to see a match end in what I hope is record time. Everything moved so fast, it was hard to tell what exactly was happening. I did manage to catch the bit about a R.U.S.E. card that makes your soldiers suicidal, though. This game is out of control.
Also, a fight about someone's cat dying broke out in the YouTube comments for this video. I'm not sure what that has to do with anything, but it needed to be brought to your attention. Rest in peace, kitty.

This is a pretty awesome step for strategy games since Endwar's fairly responsive voice-command system. I'm not too big a fan of strategy games, but both Endwar and R.U.S.E. have made me go "oooooh!"
I see a huge potential problem with this game in multiplayer lol..
If the entire gimmick of the game is deception via these special powers (fog of war, decoy armies etc)...
Well then, wouldnt you just eventually expect every single attack to come from the OTHER flank than what was first alarmed?
I mean, if everyone's always using ruses, the only thing you are doing to the game is mirroring things. Instead of attacking from the left, they are attacking from the right.
If everyone online does a standard build, use ruse on right flank, attack on left flank, etc, it'll grow predictable even more quickly than ordinary rts games.
Baleur: I have a feeling that the people who are so predictable are the ones who won't do so well. What would happen if I sent in tanks on the right flank to set off your alert, and then have the 'real' attack come from the left? Did I mention I had my entire airforce flying under radio silence on the right flank, while the left was just throwaway units?
