Awesome news!!! I love the creativity of the game!! I hope this allows them to create a full blown current gen SMT rpg (persona or otherwise). Congrats Atlus, you have my support!

I played the demo and the story was decent and somewhat intersting but the puzzle/gameplay itself was horrendous. I couldn't sit though more of the game to find out what happens next and deleted the demo after beating it.
Make a movie of it and I'll watch it.
If Demon Souls had some chick in a nightie on the front cover it sould have sould a bajillion copies. You might lash back and say something like "Mix, that's preposterousas there is not that many PS3 systems" and I would retort "eveyone would buy like 8,053 copies each"

Na, as much as I like Catherine, I hope this sends as message to the team to get started on there bigger games, some new entries in SMT should be good, to be more precise Persona 5, now that the tech demo known as Catherine is out of the way, get started Atlus!
thank god this isn't a capcom title, or the high interest and profits would be taken as a perfect excuse to do something horrific like refuse to translate persona 5 when it comes out, or to cancel it altogether.
@mix I bought this game because of my faith in the Atlus team and they didn't disapoint. The story is trippy as hell and the gameplay has more depth than most people realize. Its one of those games that makes you master its gameplay to advance. You can't just slop through it. I agree though boobs sell products.
Excellent! I'm so happy for Atlus, they really listen to the fans. Now it's time for Shin Megami HD or SMT: Nocturne HD for PS3 :-) .
Bought it on opening day as soon as GameStop opened! Definitely my favorite game of the year so far!

That makes sense and I WOULD buy this at a bargain price ($20 or so) as I like Atlus as well but this just wasn't what I expected.

@mix: I totally agree. I don't know how anyone can really rate this game highly as a $60 title. I don't begrudge Atlus a successful launch, but I think it's one of their worst games.
I enjoyed Catherine, but the game feels like a tech demo! It really does! Atlus said Catherine was "an experiment for Persona 5" and it feels that way.

I just ordered mine yesterday since I just got paid. Now, I want to get Persona 5 on my PS3! Also, how about port Persona 4 to PSP to tide me over while you work on Persona 5?
@mix understandable about price point. I'm an Atlus freak I just want to give them support. I feel like the games they do just go beyond what other companies are capable of. I don't know I just love them.

Idk why people feel this game wasnt worth 60 dollars, my first playthrough took 15 hours, and on top of that is all the challege mode type stuff, not to mention multiple endings if youre into that sort of thing

I played it. The music, characers, envrioment, and story had a JSR vibe to it. I like Persona, but I say fuck you at the same time because it's not JSR3.

I just bought the game and played it through this weekend. I really liked it, although I still want it to be a dating sim!

It's not a tech demo of any kind in my eye, the only way it can be described as a tech demo is the graphical style since this is Atlus's first HD game. I'm not sure if this is doing well because people want more engrossing narratives in gaming, or just because sex sells, either way I'm happy it's selling well.

This game would be amazing if the puzzle elements were a little more fleshed out. In all honesty I would have waited for a price drop if it was anyone other than atlus I was giving my money to.
It seems a lot of people want to chalk this up to "sex sells", but that's really, really not what's on offer here. When a reviewer says that this is a 'mature' game, they don't mean that it's a sex game or a dating sim (although Catherine does email Vincent some spank material at various points). They mean that it actually deals with mature subject matter that real people in real life have to figure out (as opposed to fighting dragons and ancient evils with your dad's sword or a demon-summoning DS, in space/hell).
I can certainly understand wanting an HD SMT game more than this, but to call this a porn game is, well, to be wrong. This isn't just Atlus's most successful launch to date, it's also easily one of their best games to date.

you have no idea how happy this makes me. I'm getting so tired of seeing in the same week "100,000 angry birds downloads" "Black ops map pack brings in 1 billion dollars" and "company that developed majin and the forsaken kingdom closes its doors."
