Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures will make you sad

"I think we have a demographic for it," I was told by a Namco Bandai PR rep. Let me back up -- mere moments earlier, he asked what I thought of Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures; I returned his questioning with nothing more...

Mad Max has a flair for the dramatic

“You know what the world needs? A videogame adaption of Mad Max, a franchise that’s sat in stagnation for almost three decades.” That’s apparently what someone at Avalanche Studios said, because here ...

Zombie survival title How to Survive was a real gem

In EKO Studios' How to Survive, you'll travel from island to island, monitoring hunger and sleep meters, crafting items from junk you find lying around and, oh yeah, taking down zombies with a bow or machete. The whole u...

FIFA 14 feels a bit more methodical

The "step-based locomotion technology" behind FIFA 14 makes the game feel grounded, putting a greater emphasis on the fluidity of movement. It's cool to see, because dribbling and positioning are paramount in soccer/football...

Madden 25 going crazy with one-handed catches

Madden 13 was really the shot in the arm the franchise needed after several years of feeling remarkably stale. The implementation of a physics system in retrospect seems paramount for something striving to be simulation footb...

NCAA 14: Better with physics

When I previewed NCAA Football 14 earlier this year, I noted that the best news about the game is that it uses the Infinity Engine 2, the original iteration of which made Madden 13 the best entry in the series in many years. ...

Dying Light feels, well, a lot like Dead Island

Despite it's oversaturation years ago, apparently zombie culture isn't going to die down any time soon. A steady stream of zombie-centric media is constantly flowing, and Techland is more than willing to take advantage of th...

I lost track of time with the laid-back Hohokum

Hohokum is one of the games at E3 that might just convince me to buy a PlayStation Vita already, even if it is also coming to PS3 and PS4 next year. Playing it on Vita with a nice pair of headphones seems like the only way t...

Battlefield 4 is what you expect, and that's a good thing

The dawn of the next-generation of gaming is upon us, and if Battlefield 4 is any indication, multiplayer won't differ too much with the changing of the guard. Not yet anyway. That'll probably work just fine for fans of...

Payday 2 blew away my expectations, stole my heart

Payday 2 feels like one of the most ambitious sequels in recent memory. I was a fan of Payday: The Heist, which in and of itself is high praise. Normally I can't be bothered to play online multiplayer and I've had first-perso...

Rain is moody, mysterious, and mesmerizing

C.A.M.P.'s Rain managed to stand out among the other flashy, next-gen showings Sony had prepared for media at E3 yesterday. Its dark, moody look caught my eye, even with it sitting next to the best looking PS4 titles. And with headphones on and controller in hand, I was instantly drawn in, immersed, wandering in the rain.

Armored Core: Verdict Day isn't looking that hot

I'm coming at Armored Core: Verdict Day from an outsider perspective. Those of you that enjoyed V? You'll like this one, I'm sure. It's a lot like V, as a lot of the features you got out of that game pretty much carries over ...

Kazunori Yamauchi on Gran Turismo 6 and beyond

At E3 this afternoon I had the pleasure of chatting with Polyphony Digital president Kazunori Yamauchi about his upcoming PS3 game, Gran Turismo 6. He also teased what might be coming up next, but made it clear that we're getting ahead of ourselves when talking about PS4 Gran Turismo titles.

Call of Duty: Ghosts looks great, plays like Call of Duty

We were shown a new level in Call of Duty: Ghosts and I can confirm that it looks a lot better in person than it has on streams and at conferences. The level we were shown opened on top of a roof, behind enemy lines, in Feder...

I'm officially getting excited for Bungie's Destiny

We saw Destiny running, live, on multiple PlayStation 4's, and I'm suddenly a bit more into the whole ordeal. We began on a run down Earth in the same spot last night's Sony press conference featured. In the more intimate, cl...

The Watch Dogs mobile app is really cool

We've talked about the Watch Dogs companion app a couple of times before. Basically it's a way for mobile users to directly interact with folks that are playing Watch Dogs on the PC or consoles. Well I've finally seen a demo ...
