Expect severed heads and stabbed necks in this Assassin's Creed Unity trailer

Just in time for Bastille Day, Assassin's Creed Unity comes dropping down from the shadows to provide a new glimpse at its take on the French Revolution. Apparently, these aren't exactly civil affairs, so a suitable amount of inspired violence is on display. As the trailer points out, there's no justice unless someone fights for it.

gamescom: Sailing the seas in Assassin's Creed III
by Hamza CTZ Aziz

My first thoughts toward Ubisoft including naval gameplay in Assassin's Creed III was of simple confusion. I just thought it didn't fit the universe. After some actual hands-on time though, I find myself really digging the gameplay, but not a fan of how it's being implemented.

My main concern is that the naval sections feel like it's the complete opposite of what makes Assassin's Creed so unique. There's this strong sense of being an invisible warrior on land, and taking things to the water gives off this vibe where things feel out of place.

Assassin's Creed III reveal trailer shoots guns in woods photo
Assassin's Creed III reveal trailer shoots guns in woods
by Jim Sterling

Here we go, folks. It's the official reveal trailer for Assassin's Creed III, confirming pretty much everything we already knew. The footage reveals plenty of murder in the woods, as our new hooded hero puts paid to redcoats during the American Revolution.

I have already asked if I'm angry because of all the British people dying. No I am not.

It's all very dramatic and exciting, and there's people getting shot in the head. There's also some shots of the new assassin performing a bit of forestry parkour, for those worried that the lack of buildings would be an issue. What more do you need?

Game's due October 30 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Assassin's Creed's Ezio a 'natural fit' for Soulcalibur V photo
Assassin's Creed's Ezio a 'natural fit' for Soulcalibur V
by Wesley Ruscher

Let the official announcement commence: Ezio Auditore da Firenze, of Assassin’s Creed fame, is Soulcalibur V’s special guest character. Some of you may have already seen a screen that was leaked -- thanks to (I can only assume) a fellow “journalist” of the highest, moralistic integrity -- but it didn't convey just how well the master assassin fits into the world of Soulcalibur that a good old-fashioned written preview can do.

I’ll save my diatribe on embargoes and videogame journalism for a later date, because frankly I’d rather share my recent hands-on time with Ezio in Soulcalibur V. With that said, now that the proverbial cat is officially out of the bag, the question I’m sure many have been wondering can finally be answered: How does Ezio stack up amongst Soulcalibur's cast of eclectic characters?
