Pix the Cat is out now and its Nostalgia mode is sweet

For the same reasons I was excited as heck for Cuphead, I am loving Pix the Cat's Snake-like Nostalgia Mode for reminding me of Felix the Cat and 20s animation in general.  And then you realize everything else about this game is nuts and that it's just been released for free for PlayStation Plus members so I'm going to go download that jam right now before my subscription lapses.

Oh, cool! There's a new Spelunky EP up on Bandcamp and it's totally free, whether you're streaming or downloading. (Though you may want to consider tipping if you like what you hear.) This is a nine-track EP with several gues...

Fenix Rage is a rad little take on Super Meat Boy

Fenix Rage was recently released by developer Green Lava Studios, and in short, it's basically a take on Super Meat Boy's time trial platforming gameplay. Every map consists of a cookie (band-aid) to pick up, and a goal ...

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth teased for Wii U

Fans of The Binding of Isaac have long wanted the game on 3DS and while that'd be great to see one day, I'd be just as happy to to have it on Wii U. Which might actually happen! I know! Nicalis uploaded this video yesterday and that blip at the beginning sure is a Wii U overlay. There's also this Twitter exchange between designer Edmund McMillen and Nicalis' Tyrone Rodriguez. Still waiting for a new 2D Metroid? Take a look at Beyond Human

Every few months, I think about how great Metroid: Zero Mission and Metroid Fusion were. So, so great. Why isn't Nintendo doing more like that? I don't know, but the indie community seems to share my lamentation, creating ga...

Review: Natural Doctrine

Natural Doctrine is a strategy role-playing game with a sadistic side. It's a brutal and uncompromising experience, one keen on taxing players and pushing them to their limits with its intense difficulty. The architects behin...

Enough teasing: Vib-Ribbon is headed to PlayStation Network

There was an out-of-nowhere nod to Vib-Ribbon at Sony's E3 press conference this year, and then nothing. No follow-up announcement. That wasn't very nice at all. But everything will be better, soon enough: the cult PlayStatio...

The Vita now has themes, finally

I've been a Vita owner since launch, and it's funny to see it go from a relatively feature-free device to what it is today. Now with update 3.30 you can get a number of themes for your Vita, ranging from Uncharted t...

Söldner-X 2: Final Prototype is coming to the Vita with 'next to no load times'

I don't know why but the PlayStation 3 version of Söldner-X has always had a special place in my heart. Maybe it's because it's one of my most-played games on the PS3 back in an era when it didn't have as many game...

PS Plus: Driveclub, Dust, Spelunky, and four more

Konami PSN sale: Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania, Suikoden

Tons of Metal Gear Solid games in this PlayStation Network sale. I was never going to grab Ground Zeroes at full price, but now we're talking. A few older gems in here, too: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes (PS3) - $9.99 / $8...

Review: Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc was an intelligent riff on the perils of high school -- you know, if you had thrown a murder mystery in between classes and the principal was a maniacal stuffed animal. Its sequel, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, takes a beleaguered trope and turns it on its head. This is one "trapped on a desert island" story that takes things to another level entirely.
