Small game music concerts are becoming all the rage in Japan these days as there's seemingly one taking place every few weeks. While fans abroad can sometimes catch smaller events live on Ustream, it's rare for a high-profile company like Square Enix to broadcast such an event for fans who aren't at the event itself. Later this week, however, Square Enix will be doing just that with its SQ Party LEVEL1 concert set to take place at the 2.5D venue in Tokyo, Japan.
The event will feature several SQ series remixers performing their arrangements from across the Love SQ, Chill SQ, More SQ, SQ Chips, and perhaps even the upcoming Cafe SQ arrangement albums. It's set to begin at 20:00 on September 29, 2011 in Tokyo, meaning it will be an early 4:00 AM PST and 7:00 AM EST. It should be pretty awesome if you can tune in, however, as some of my favorite arrangers are performing, including RE:NDZ and SEXY-SYNTHESIZER along with several others. You can watch it live on the official 2.5D Ustream channel here.
Do events like these make you wish game music was bigger outside of Japan, and will you be taking advantage of the broadcast by tuning in Thursday morning?
[Thanks to Kai Ohler for helping translate some of the concert details]

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I really appreciate that. I'll try to keep it up!

Remixes of Final Fantasy music. Mainly electronic and kinda upbeat/gamey in nature. Check out any of the SQ album websites on Square Enix's Japanese homepage.
I was also another one who got the Nier album because of your coverage and like Shinta I ended up loving the album. So much so that I decided to check out Jim's review of the game and ended up buying it. If it wasn't for that coverage I might have missed out on one of the best albums and games of that year. Yeah the games had it's faults...but I loved it anyways.
