Pshh, and you thought Trogdor on Guitar Hero II was cool. YouTube user VideoGameMusic has hacked a nice little collection of gut-busting 80's make-out anthems. He descibes his latest Frankensteinization (yes, that's a technical term), Ted Nugent's "Cat Scratch Fever", as his "best song yet."

Indeed. The only complaint you Guitar Hero purists might have is that the song doesn't stop when you mess up, but it's a minor squabble compared to the towering masculinity that is the Nuge. In any case, this is a worthy addition to all things Guitar Hero.

Want to make your own custom songs? You're going to need a chipped PS2, some free time, and an extra soul to sell off, unless your willing to part with yours. In fact, I'll just let Nick explain it to you. The best part is that, even though the songs are custom made, he/she/it manages to mess up a few times. It takes cojones to put a video of you sucking at Guitar Hero up on the internet. I salute you.

Hit the jump for more custom songs, including Journey, John Mellencamp, and Derek and the Dominoes (that's Eric Clapton for you ignorant, infidel pigs).

It's a nice collection, but it needs more Ninja. And Ram Jam.

Derek and the Dominoes -- "Layla"

Journey -- "Don't Stop Believing"

John Mellencamp - "Jack and Diane"

Journey -- "Any Way You Want It"

I second the call for RamJam... Black Betty FTW!

Considering all the time and effort it takes to plug those in the game is no wonder they are posting them results in youtube.

I hope they implement a custom song editor for Guitar Hero 3 now thats something we would like instead of the "teach yourself real guitar" they are apparently trying to do.

Jack & Diane? One of these songs are not like the others, one of these songs don't rock.

Just a pointer to all of those who think this may be a copyrigth infringement IS NOT, if the CD is yours (as in you actually BOUGHT it) and the Console is yours, ripping it to the console and playing it is the equivalent of playing it in an Ipod and doing an air guitar.

it is also a gigantic pain in the balls. i tried, and for me it was more effort than it was worth, but i got tons of respect for anyone who loves a song and guitar hero enough to go through the paces.

anyone bad mouthing jack and diane doesn't know just how good it feels to do the perfect wind up fist pump.

Check out frets on fire, it's an open source version of Guitar hero for computers. You can make custom tracks and everything. If you have a Ps2>USB adapter you can use your Guitar Hero Controller.

Anything with an 80's soundtrack has my vote. And for the record, I actually like Journey.

@darkslide

yeah, Frets on Fire is great and all, except...

1) No aesthetically-pleasing visuals
2) No whammy bar w/ the GH controller
3) No Star Power either

and it has a few bugs, it does freeze up from time to time

Those are the only Journey songs I like.

Layla should still be listed as performed by Eric Clapton. Derek and the Dominoes didn't really have anything to do with it. It was written by Clapton after he was rejected by George Harrison's wife. And Grim, how could you not like Seperate Ways by Journey? That's probably the best song they ever made.

i agree with grim. Journey is not as great as some of the others from the 80s. GNR!

hopefully we'll all get to play some of these songs when the 80's edition of Guitar Hero is released

"80's edition of Guitar Hero is released"

I though this idea had been canned?

Anyhow, I demand to hear some Foreigner... and Rainbow. Ooh and maybe some Cheap Trick. And Styx.

I'm torn. Cat Scratch Fever is the all-time worst song ever (with the possible exception of I Will Survive), but it has the all-time best lyric ever: "I make a pussy purr with the stroke of my hand". I'm more confused than a blind lesbian in a fish market.
