Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth screens pop up photo

Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth has come a long, long way since the GameBoy days, if these new screens that were recently shown in Famitsu are any indication. The WiiWare title has been confirmed as a complete remake of the original 1989 title, including a completely new score that features remixes of many of the famous songs from Castlevania's history. I don't recollect some of the levels shown here in the original game, so I'm wondering if this is more of a reimagining, but it's been too long since I've played the first game to be sure.

The game is due to come out in Japan on October 27th for 1000 Wii points, and the US has no confirmed date beyond a vague mention of a third quarter release. Hey, at least we're getting it. Being the hardcore 2D Castlevania addict that I am, I'll be grabbing it the day it comes out, whenever that may be.

This is a game in the ReBirth series... the ReBirth games are WiiWare titles, with 16-bit graphics. They already released Gradius ReBirth, Contra ReBirth and now they will release Castlevania Rebirth.

Salamander ReBirth is also already rated, so I guess we will see more ReBirth games.

I don't know why did you assume that the game was going to be a DS game. Every ReBirth games has been on WiiWare so far.

Wow this and Fist on the same day. Wish this was a DSI download but WiiWare will suffice.

Wiiware that doesn't suck? I'm intrigued.

Old school Castlevania for $10? Sold.

I know, I just didn't see "Rebirth". I looked at the screenshots.

It doesn't change the fact that these could all easily come out on the lacking DSiWare store.

Looks amazing as usual...such a great series. I hope they get to Metal Gear and Goemon at some point.

@Magnalon

Shantae is coming out on the DSiWare store. That game needs such a wide berth that nothing else would be able to squeeze in.

Magnalon, I agree. It'd be nice if Nintendo released games like Castlevania: Rebirth on both the Wii and the DSi, so neither audience has to miss out. DSi is pathetic, and a game like this (or the upcoming Shantae) would really spruce it up. Hell, why not offer the audience a general account that could be tied to both a Wii and a DSi, so they could play their games at home or on the go? More people would buy from the Virtual Console if they had more control over the games.

On Topic: Yes! I've missed these level-based Castlevania games. I don't hate the SOTN ones, but they've never been "Castlevania" games to me. It was as much a crime for Konami to stop making the "Old-School" Castlevania's when SOTN became a success as it was for Nintendo to stop making 2D Mario games once SM64 became a success. I'm glad to see both companies came to their senses.

The game itself looks great (like a souped-up Super Castlevania). While my ideal Castlevania game would have 8-way whipping (screenshots don't feature it), I'll still enjoy the hell out of this as long as the level design is fun and the music is bumping. Release date please!

Totally agree, Fist.

Its a shame this isn't going to go out on DS too. I'd so buy this, but unfortunately I have no Wii. I'm surprised that Nintendo haven't even attempted transferable use of DSi and Wii games on the same account. Just shows how thoughtless they can be these days.

I'm going to have to get a Wii and DSi too, damn you, Nintendo.

Nice one, Konami.

This was the first game I bought for my Gameboy. I saved up for a stretch and loved this game really like I have loved few, and this was on the pea green black and white Gameboy. Now twenty (gosh I am getting up there) years later I get it in full color. This is all sorts of awesome.

Yup, same here. Wish I had a new 2D DS `vania for the run up to chrimbo. The gothic tone suits the onset of the wintery months....

As for this, as soon as I get a Wii, i`m picking it up. I fucking LOVE 2D Castlevania`s. More please Konami!

Y'think they're bringing Belmont's Revenge into it, as part of this release? Then you'd have the Christopher arc/s all wrapped into one game.

I kinda wonder why they chose The Adventure to remake. Compared to Belmont's Revenge, it's a subpar game that's ridiculously difficult. Some interesting ideas like the spike tower, but plenty of stupid ones (lose your whip upgrade every time you're hit by an enemy!). If anything, games in the style of Belmont's Revenge or Dracula's Curse would've been a better choice to start with.

I'll get it eventually... Right now the only thing tempting me to turn on my Wii is the FF4 sequel, but the price on it really makes me want to wait on it.
