Looks like Summa was right -- Castlevania:Symphony of the Night will hit the Xbox Live Arcade next week, as concisely stated by a glowing press release:

Celebrate more than two decades of the Castlevania franchise by reliving (or experiencing for the first time) one of the series' most highly regarded games. The legendary 2D side-scrolling action adventure game from Konami Digital Entertainment, "Castlevania: Symphony of Night," will be available for download on Xbox Live Arcade for Xbox 360 beginning Wednesday, March 21 at 0900 GMT (2 a.m. PDT).

This sidescrolling classic will run you 800 Microsoft Points, and offer 12 achievements and 200 Gamerscore points. You also have the option of playing an "enhanced mode" with improved graphics and audio. Or, if you're a purist, you can play the original.  This is also the first ever full console game* to appear on XBLA, although more will surely follow.

What I'm particularly struck by is that Symphony of the Night is the 12th iteration of the Castlevania series. While its Capcom counterpart hasn't aged quite as well, Konami still knows a thing or two about killing vampires and creepy manors.

Hit the Jump for a full press release and some screenshots.

*And by "game" I mean "classic." I should learn to read press releases.

Hello!

This Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday, "Castlevania: Symphony of Night," makes its next-gen debut.

Journey Into the Darkness With "Castlevania: Symphony of Night" on Xbox Live Arcade

PDT).

The Castlevania franchise is well known for delivering exceptional quality in all elements that make a great game – story, music, level design, character development, gameplay and controls. In "Castlevania: Symphony of Night," the 12th iteration of the series, gamers take on the role of Alucard, the half-vampire son of the blood-drinker Dracula, as he ventures into his infamous father's foreboding castle. Along the way, Alucard must collect items, weapons and armor to defeat the powerful boss monsters that block access to key areas of the castle.

"Castlevania: Symphony of Night" is the first full console classic to appear on Xbox Live Arcade and offers dozens of hours of non-linear action RPG gameplay. "Castlevania: Symphony of Night" will be available worldwide for 800 Microsoft Points and is rated T for Teen (Animated Blood and Violence).

My 360 could not of died at a worse time. I prayed to God that he would stay out of my way, but he wasn't having it.

I'll probably get this during the next game lull. With Shivering Isles being released, I don't want to overload my 360.

I haven't played a Castlevania game since that one for SNES. Judging from the collective salivating for Symphony, I'll most certainly give'r a download next week.

Niiice.

But hey what size is it going to be and how large is the demo. Because if it only has the first level (which is the ending of the game before that one) they fail.

what is a man, but a miserable pile of secrets!!

and just moments before reading this I deposited 20 bucks into my account. I could just go to my cousins house and take back my copy that he's held onto for about the past 6 years lol

But the PSone version doesn't come with achievements, so he can hold onto it for another 6 years for all I care.

Looks great, but the filtration on the graphics in the screenshots is atrocious. They're not even using a regular filtration scheme, just some really bad looking bilinear filtration, and aren't properly scaling each pixel evenly. Maybe they'll fix the filtration in the final release, and the "enhanced" optional visuals may even remedy the filtration issue irrelevant if they're being used.

Is there anyway to change the zoom on these XBL games? These borders are really horrible.
