Castlevania: Lords of Shadow enemies get rendered photo

I don't know what to think of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. I like Castlevania, I like Kojima Productions, and I like action games.

So what's missing? Goblins. Lesser lycanthropes. Giant spiders. Great Wargs... obviously. They're all rendered here for your enjoyment, enemies in the upcoming third-person action game scheduled for release later this year.

Do you think they have that "Castlevania feel"? Are Kojima and developer MercurySteam bringing 2D Castlevania to 3D life, or are they missing the mark? Either way, I can't wait to get my hands on the title, which I have a good feeling will happen at this year's E3.

The enemies look pretty good, but it's hard to tell with the black background. I think I have to reserve judgement until we get some actual action shots from the game.

The monsters are looking pretty good. I've never played a bad game by Kojima Productions, looking forward to this.

Hopefully Kojima won't put 20 hours of cutscenes into this.

The landscapes look very Castlevania, but the enemies look more Clive Barker-ish. Not that it's a complaint since I've only known (and loved) Castlevania as having no polygons, and about 50 pixels. I never got around to playing any of the 3D Castlevanias so I don't have any enemies to compare with. :)

Either way it looks like it's coming along great so this might be the one that gets me into 3D. :)

I remember that the video they showed looked more like a god of war game than a classic castelvania game. but that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.

The oversaturation of games released monthly has me convince that games should no longer be classified into genres but categories. This falls squarely into the "Devil May Cry" category.
Castlevania in 3-D is a sign of the hardcore Apocalypse.

I dunno, the monsters don't really feel like Castlevania to me, (then again having never seen a good CV game in 3d its not like I know what they should look like anyway) they look good though. I hope they keep the old gothic feel from the 2d games.

Kojima-San gives us this when in fact fans have been clamoring for a new Zone of Enders game for what seems like an eternity. Logic, where art thou?

For me only the Goblin was out of place, everything looks very Castlevania-ish...

Honestly, I'm not sure what I want out of a 3d Castlevania game. However, if anyone can change my mind, its Kojima.

Where are the skeletons?!

Either way, this is one action-adventure game that I am highly anticipating. I hope the itemization and skill/spell variety remains in-tact, which are the greatest elements of Castlevania games.

Castlevania has always been very much a 2D experience. I don't think it can be replicated in 3D. Nevertheless, this looks pretty cool and I'll be checking the game out when it's finally released.

2D Castlevania has always been the bread and butter of the series and I think it's brave for them to try and expand it but I'm cautious to see how it'll play out. Could be outstanding, or just another game in that pile called "Like <Game here> but..."

It's not Castlevania until Dracula breaks an expensive goblet.

I'm with what a few other people above said: everything looks great except for random Lord of the Rings goblins thrown in there. As far as I've always understood it, the goblins Castlevania deals with are more the creepy, forest-dwelling hooligans with knives from Celtic lore rather than some barbaric warrior race.

Spider and warg look awesome though. O:

While I am hopeful that this game turns out good, would it really hurt to give us fucking Symphony of the Night 2? A 2D Castlevania with HD graphics would make me The happiest guy ever.

I hope Castlevania gets the Metroid Prime treatment(i.e. a perfect transition into 3D) and doesn't become LOL God Of War with Whips.

The Goblin needs to go back to Lord of the Rings. Everything else looks pretty good. Hairy werewolf is hairy.

But it's not a werewolf if he doesn't rip numbers off a clock tower and throw them at you.
