Castlevania: Lord of Shadows vampire needs bath, clothes photo

I want to be excited for MercurySteam and Kojima Production's Castlevania: Lord of Shadows, I really do.

This image of one of the game's vampires, despite his lack of clothing and bathing habits, is helping things a bit. David Cox, a producer at Konami, does point out that it's only a vampire. No, Count Dracula hasn't gotten a disgusting making. I certainly expect him to be a bit more dignified.

I'll admit that Lord of Shadows keeps falling off my radar, because when you use the words "3D" and "Castlevania" in the same sentence I black ou--adljk;..

Yeah, what was I saying again? Oh yeah, I think what I was trying to say is that I'm "cautiously optimistic." That's what they say, right? What do you think?

This game... concerns me. I'm Optimistically Pessimistic... The game has driven me to contradictions. HAHA, GOOD IRONY!

This is not Castlevania, this is a God of War wanna be with Castlevania slapped on it. Also, I really doubt Kojima has anything to do with this game. They just slapped his logo on it to make people feel more at ease after finding out that the developers were the same group responsible for that crappy Jericho game.

Everything I've seen so far indicates that it will be a Castlevania-skinned God of War/Dante's Inferno/Devil May Cry/etc. clone with, hopefully, an interesting and well acted story. I don't see anything wrong with that.

3d movement or 3d engine with 2d movement (ala shadow complex)?
hopefully the latter...

The main character looks like Solid Snake kinda sorta.

Sure this isn't my ideal Castlevania game (solid snake killing the twilight "vampires") but it's a step in the right direction.

Sorry I'm new to this site but why does everything say xbox 360 before a multiplat game?

This really is best decscribed as a God of War clone. Also, the director of the game has stated that Kojima has had very little involvement. Not that he really affect my opinion of this game. I'm more dissapointed that Iga isn't involved. And that this game may or may not have been a Castlevania game at all. It started out as Lords of Shadow, then the "Castlevania" part was added on later. I feel like the brand was slapped on. I want it to be good, but I'm also, in a way, against it.

@SayWord:

If you're referring to the tags, it should display all related tags below the header image. As for the "related" stories, I'd have to ask the person who programed out software. But I'll say we should have finer control over it in the future with pending site features. No bias here!

@ Trevor McGee

Rocksteady's only claim to fame was Urban Chaos: Riot Response before releasing the phenomenal Arkham Asylum. I remember the shit-storm that ensued prior to that game's release concerning such a beloved franchise in the hands of an unproven developer, but it actually turned out pretty well.

My point: why not wait until the game is actually released to make judgments on how terrible the game is/ will be? It could turn out to be absolute shit, but then again, it could surprise you.

In all honesty LoI wasn't that bad a game, it just had the misfortune of being compared to SotN.

I just hope Kojima is more involved then say when Harry And The Henderson's (remember that really bad Bigfoot movie?) came out and they would say STEVEN SPIELBERG PRESENTS, when all he really did was sign a paycheck to attach his name and get a tax break, but didn't really do anything.
Wes Craven and Tom Clancy are a couple other whores who come to mind.
If Kojima is truly getting involved, I hold hope. If he went the whore route on this game...it'll be as bad as past 3D Castlevanias.

I feel like this is going the same direction as Star Fox Adventures... Company starts making a game, publisher of said game notices similarities between game and one of pulisher's popular franchises, and a union is formed. Whether it ends up good or bad, your mileage may vary. But in the case of Star Fox Adventures, it sure didn't feel like a Star Fox game, and this doesn't look like a Castlevania game just yet, either.

I'm also optimistically pessimistic. Not going to discard it just for being 3D, but I'm nowhere near convinced yet that this is a good thing.

Don't we all, Nick. Don't we all.
Konami. Kojima. Whatever.
Just, please, be a fun, engaging Castlevania game... Actually skip the whole engaging part, with Kojima we'll be watching the game rather than playing it! Just make it fun.

I too loved Castlevania 64...that villa level killed it (especially the race through the hedge maze). So the controls and camera angles kinda sucked...but it had an awesome vibe. I dunno. Could just be nostalgia.

But enough talk! HAVE AT YOU!

I never liked the 2D games, way too archaic, so its about time such a potentially cool IP finally gets a game that looks to live up to it's license. This looks like it will blow away the rest of the series and finally live up to it's potential

And if you arent't excited about this game and would rather another lame nes style, stuck in the past 2D platformer, then you need to be checked for a brain and pulse.

I liked the PS2 Castlevanias. Then again, I realize the SotN (aka Metroidvania) was a tough act to follow. Same reason why people hated Ghostbusters II: the previous iteration was just TOO AWESOME. It's hard to capture lightning in a bottle twice.

Remember, everyone said SotN would suck because it was too much like Metroid. Let's not judge the game before it's even done.

Yes, Kojima with his convoluted story telling and silly dialogue can help by bringing in his deluded, foolish fanbase to hopefully buy the game and make it a sucess.

I played SOTN on xbox live arcade, really don't get the big deal. It's a 2D platformer, not some immersive masterpiece.
