Castlevania film really coming, shooting soon photo

Whether or not the world needs a live-action Castlevania film is up for debate, but that doesn't matter to producer Paul W.S. Anderson. In a recent interview, the director/producer told SCI FI Wire that the film's script is nearly complete, and is expected to shoot in the next few months.

Anderson, best known by gamers as "the dude who directed the Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil movies," is currently directing Death Race, a remake of the 1975 cult classic, Death Race 3000. Castlevania is set to be directed by Sylvain White, and is currently being penned by Ian Jeffers.

What are the odds that they won't screw this one up? There had better be a scene where someone finds a turkey in a wall somewhere and eats it. That's all it will actually take to make me happy. How about you?

I would like this to be good, but looking at the past game-to-movie track record....yea.

Turkey in a wall would be great. Axe from a candle would also be awesome.

I currently don't have any faith the movie will be any good, but I know I'll still catch it opening night.

The only way this wont suck is if they make it a comedy. It should be casted with bad cosplayers, with all the bad japlish translations intact. Like a Lesle Nielsen movie or something.

"What is a man? A miserable pile of secrets!!"

You just can't take Castlevania seriously, which is what this guy is going to do, hence it will fail. The games have always been a cheesefest, and the movie should reflect that.

Castlevania is doomed.

As much as this will probably suck, as long as it actually follows the plot of the games it will be a step forward...(Looking at you Resident Evil).

How much do you want to bet that there's at least one shot of something knocking over a candle? "Hey, that's our nudge to the fans!" *wink*

Why do we continue to get our hopes up about movies based on video games?

Andersons only good movie so far has been Event Horizon, he's made total shit since then, this movie won't be any different, expect any gore to be toned down for the PG-13 rating.

I have no faith in any video game movie unless it gets a serious budget with a serious director. This will just be more shit we will be making fun of in a few years.

As I understand Warren Ellis(Transmetropolitan) wrote the script so it could actually turn out good.

At least I read something like this on Bad Signal.

I love Castlevania, but honestly, this movie should not be made. I can't imagine how a good Castlevania movie would work, and a comedy would just make fun of it. This is another one of those "better in video games" IPs.

If this fails, we always have the animated movie with the script written by Warren Ellis to fall back on.

I mean, fuck, the movie has a conversation about a farmer falling in love with a goat and "snake fucking(ly crazy)", a term coined by Mr. Ellis in his script. It should at least be decent.

AND FYI, the best Video Game adapation ever is the Street Fighter II The Animated Movie.

So good Capcom made a new series based on it (Alpha/Zero). Plus, you know, Chun Li shower scenes and her fighting in her underwear. Good times.

To sbshootme:

No, damn it! Ellis wrote the script for the animated film. There are two separate Castlevania projects in the works: A live-action feature film, and a direct-to-DVD animated film. Warren Ellis is writing the second one.
