The above clip is a stint of gameplay from the upcoming PSP remake of the classic Castlevania Dracula X. Obviously, certain visual enhancements have been made, and one could easily say they look amazing. One could also say that they are enough to cure the blind and sear the flesh from all of the PSPs detractors, but, of course, that would sound insane, and superlatives aren't something we throw around lightly here at Destructoid. While it might be kitten-smashingly awesome to be able to say such utterly glowing things about the title, we would be burned alive by the intense scorn and hatred of the billions of people who look to us for fair, unbiased and totally wicked awesome gaming news.
Back to the topic at hand, though, this is the first PSP title I've seen since Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops that makes me glad I own one of Sony's handhelds. The warm nostalgia oozing from every bump-mapped texture in this iteration of the vampire-whipping epic is the same sort of comforting sensation one gets from childhood toys, warm cookies and Valium, and for that, Konami wins a gold star.
Damn it, and didn't want a PSP at all. It's too bad they didn't do this sort of remake with SotN on XBLA; but I guess that would have caused some folks to get their panties in a bundle.
Another game that confounds me as to it's placement on the PSP.
Mega Man Powered Up, Ultimate Ghosts N Goblins, and this all would have sold far better to the 2D friendly owners of the DS. I am the only owner of a PSP that I know doesn't think all 2D games are for "old losers".
Where on the DS, New Super Mario Bros is still bringing in the chips.
Well, I'm personally glad it's coming to the PSP. Otherwise I would have felt a little stupid for buying one. And of course, the graphics look a little better on the PSP than the DS.
Looks great, but I sold my PSP a year ago for a slick DS lite. I'm fine with where I am. Hopefully this'll pop onto XBL or the VC at some point. If not, there's lots of other Castlevania games I've missed out on, and that hasn't stopped me from living yet.
Hahah, the person in the video was killed by a fleaman. If I were taking video of this game and that happened to me, I wouldn't let the world see it. I would be so ashamed.
yeah, but nobody really comes to destructoid for fair and balanced news. that's fine, though. nobody here cares, i mean, at least destructoid offers a place for people who actually care about games to write and get their opinions out, unlike other sites.
It just came out a few weeks ago and is already near impossible to find. There's almost ZERO marketing out for this game and what there is doesn't even BEGIN to show you what the game is about. Here's an awesome clip of the main gameplay mechanic:

Seriously, if you're interested at all, I'd pick it up now. At $30 and practically no distribution (my reserved copy was the only copy my EB/GS got in... over 2 weeks late no less), this game will disappear with almost no one even knowing about it.
I remember the old one looking a lot better, but that could just be the crappy gametrailers codec or whatever.
Those floating skull&spines look pretty cheap...
I like that they managed to make the slow Belmont gait look somewhat natural. I know I shouldn't complain, but I still want a copy of Rondo of Blood for my TV screen, as opposed to the PSP that I don't have (but will have to buy for this).
Yup, this game makes me want to get a PSP REALLY bad too... and don't forget Final Fantasy Tactics. One of my favorite games. I used to burn a few hours here and there between afternoon classes with my dorm roommate's copy. Now it's portable, meaning I could play it lying in bed before going to sleep of course. It's obviously obvious.
I honestly would rather see a Castlevania game made or remade to look graphically on par with Guilty Gears quality. Now playing a 2D Castlevania with Guilty Gears graphics, that's something to cream your pants to. Heh.
As far as this goes, it looks cool, but I'm not a fan of them using 3D graphics to make a Castlevania game, especially one that's imitating a 2D game.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

Its possible for you to live having missed out on Castlevania games? I envy you.
Hey, fleamen are fierce! They bound everywhere, and sometimes you just can't take them all out.
*goes and hugs his psp*
Not even Ratchet and Clank or Sly Cooper?
