Castlevania arcade game is a light gun game with a whip

     Castlevania

Your eyes do not deceive you -- you're looking at video footage of a new Castlevania arcade game. It appears to use some Wii Remote-like device that you point and swing to take out ghouls.

It looks reasonably fun, in the way that most light games can be fun (which is the say for 15 to 20 minutes ... and intoxicated at an arcade). So this begs the question: Why not release this game for the Wii? Because, well ... have you guys played Castlevania Judgment? Don't. Please.

Depending on where you are, it's likely you'll have to buy a plane ticket to play this game, though. Let us know if you start seeing these things in the wild. I have some frequent flyer miles I'm willing to redeem to get my light whip on.

Wow. Looks horribly clumsy.

Yes Konmai...please work on a new 2D console game. I love the GBA/DS games, but god...a full-blown console game that takes advantage of the amount of awesomeness a disc can hold?

Oh I heard about this game, thought it was an interesting idea, would be great on the Wii; Resident Evil version worked well.

I remember Iga talking about the Wii and saying he didn't want a game to use a whipping motion for basic attacks. That made sense, I wonder what happened.

Also, it's raining men.

Somehow, I doubt this game has IGA's strong blessing. And if he did personally approve it, notice that it's for a short arcade game instead of a full-length title.

It's an idea that is awesome but doesn't work well in practice. The video makes it look unresponsive as hell plus waving your hand back and forth to crack a whip doesn't have the same visceral feel as pulling the trigger on a plastic gun does.

This reminds me of Dragon Quest Swords which was nothing to excited about, but was fun to say the least, I think this might be good.

Do you know what's worse than playing an unresponsive whipping game? Playing an unresponsive whipping game whilst having Gerri Haliwell's 'It's Raining Men' in the background, that's what.

Pfft, there should have been a real whip as a controller.
