The wonderful people at The Behemoth received what can only be assumed to be a delightful gift this Christmas. On December 25th, the total number of users (based on leaderboards) who have played Castle Crashers exceeded two million. That's a lot of crashing!
Okay, sure, those numbers may pale in comparison to sales of Black Ops. But very few games have attained this level of success on Xbox Live Arcade. Since its release in 2008, Castle Crashers has consistently remained in the Live Marketplace's top 20 downloaded games and has the highest player rating of any title available on the service. Castle Crashers also released on PlayStation Network this past August.
Congratulations to everyone at The Behemoth for their massive success. Now, when's Battleblock Theatre coming, hmm?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Release timing is one thing, but Castle Crashers owes it's success due to being a great, appealing game. There are a lot of awesome games on XBLA that it must compete with now, but it is still one of the most downloaded titles. This is because of word of mouth and the critical success. It's also a title that is simply more appealing than most because of it's style setting and addictive gameplay.... I have recommended this game along with Trials HD, Shadow Complex, Splosion Man, and Limbo but this title is by far the one that my friends caught on to the most. There are many new Xbox owners, I think we will start seeing alot of the better and bigger XBLA releases hitting this milestone, ewspecially with a larger user base.
But, Earthworm Jim+MAHVEL BAYBEE 2>Castle Crashers IMHO.
Respect and massive, massive piles of cash. It's a dev team of 14 people, and that's, after a distribution cut, over a million bucks per person.
That's some success
