Castle Crashers crashing Xbox Live: The Behemoth working on fix photo

I'd love to be able to report that things are going swimmingly for Castle Crashers, but unfortunately I've had issues with the thing all day. So far I've managed one round of online co-op, and even then, it wasn't long before my character froze and I had to pull out. Since then, games won't connect, and even worse, my Xbox 360 has been (ironically) crashing when attempting to load an Xbox Live game.

Same goes for our very own Reverend Anthony, who has been having an awful time keeping a game going, and the Internet at large is also reporting problems. Apparently overseas connections have it the worst, too. It's safe to say that Castle Crashers has issues, son.

Not a very good start for a game that was sold on its online co-op potential. Fortunately, the game is still pretty fun on your own (although it makes archers unbearable) so you'll just have to muck through it is as best you can ... or find some real-life friends. Also, this is where you can make a snarky and cynical comment about the game costing 1200 MS Points. At least Braid's online co-op worked right.

[Update: The Behemoth is aware of the issue and claim to be fixing it, in their own cute way]

I got to the last level today playing 4 player local with no problems. RL friends FTW.

Amazingly fun game, beat-em up with leveling...I love it. Not concerned with the internet problem right now, as I'm sure they'll have a fix up quick. Highly, highly recommended.

I assume you guys will review this version and not any soon to be released patched version, right?

Why was this thing delayed, again? To "polish" it, right?

I made a co-op game with a guy over live to play it. We beat the entire thing together but he got disconnected about 3 times due to the LIVE quirkyness. It was 5 hours of pure fun ;) now bring on insane mode!

I talked to Tom Fulp(lead programmer) and many of the beta testers just recently and they all the game worked flawlessly before launch. The Live isses is a similar situation to what happened at Halo 3's launch, too many people are attempting to connect online for the amount of bandwidth Microsoft has partitioned for this specific game. Tom is currently working on expanding the amount of bandwidth avaliable for the game so that more users can be online at once. A "patch" might not even be nessicary because it is a server side issue. Either way they are entirely aware of the issue and it should be fixed soon. Also don't blame them, blame yourself, I mean afterall the issue is simply that too many of you are trying to play online at once :P.

@ JamnOn - heheh, you are probably right mate. Still, I know that I will remember that the Behemoth screwed up their release, and I would be loath to buy another product of theirs until I read somewhere that it's fine.

I won't even buy this game until I get a report from somewhere that the online portion is fixed. Part of the fun is playing this with other people, and for people that work full time like me, its not always practical to take your copy over to someone's house to play it with them.

Whatever the issue was, it disappeared this evening. I played a good three hours into the co-op online and then proceeded to play many rounds of arena and then (lol) eating minigame. Try the RB drum controller if you happen to have it nearby :P Anyway, only got dropped once.

I tried once in the morning to get into a ranked match, but it said it couldn't find any. Since it was about 5:30am EST, I chalked it up to everyone either downloading it or playing offline.

I'm sure they'll fix the issue soon. Until then, I'm having a blast offline (except for those motherfrakin' archers).

I'm having the same problem that other people are citing- First time up, Alien Hominid's unlocked. Didn't play him, chose Red and played through for several hours, levelling up to about 15. Now, the entire fucking thing is gone, no Alien Hominid, no saved game. I don't care about the Alien Hominid appearing/disappearing, but losing my save of about 4 hours is unfuckingforgivable. FIX. NAO.

I'll be approaching future Fulp/Paladin releases with caution.

My 10 year old son is encountering constant freezes, lockups, and crashes with this game. Interestingly, though, he says that the problems usually occur when players are talking during the loading of a session. He says that if players are talking actively while a session is loading, lockups and crashes are almost certain to occur. He also says that removing the mic/headset from the hand controller may help avert the problem.
