When you're thinking of potential developers you want tinkering with your latest tech, id's John Carmack has got to be near the top of that list. Speaking with Joystiq, the famed programmer and technical director said he has "an itch to make a Kinect title for Xbox LIVE."
"I can't use Kinect for our real games; there just isn't a place for our current FPSes on there," he revealed. He's not alone in that sentiment, and I think that's why many studios who are known for creating those types of experiences haven't announced anything for Kinect yet.
Before you get too excited over the possibilities of a Kinect-powered id title for XBLA, realize that Carmack also said "I don't even know what I'd want to do yet." Plus, he's still got the non-mobile versions of RAGE to worry about, and those aren't due out anytime soon.

Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied:
"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

The one thing they never consider is that yes, we might see real games, but will they be good? I don't see how it would be possible to play a game with guns on the Kinect.
I like guns.
STEEL BATALLION is coming to Kinect-
Not Mech Assult.

Time Crisis for Move, ALREADY DONE!... Three times!!!
if kinect can track a person it can track a plastic gun, and while i guess ducking and bobbing does get tiring fast i don't see why it couldn't be tweaked to make a really good FPS experience, at least as good as you get on the Wii control wise.
i suppose it goes against the whole "no controller" paradigm, but who cares if it works?
@SithZombie
I agree about the MOTION part, but POINTER is a different story. I've never played a shooter with better controls than stuff like Metroid Prime 3/Trilogy.
