Capy bringing Clash of Heroes to XBLA and PSN in HD! photo

Capybara is bringing Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes to Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network later this year. This isn't just going to be a straightforward port of the DS game as Capy is giving Clash of Heroes the HD treatment!

The game will receive all sorts of awesome updates to it, such as hand-drawn artwork replacing the 16-bit style sprites and scenes. Clash of Heroes HD will also feature four-player versus or co-operative modes. A number of complaints about the DS version, such as how you couldn't go back to previous areas, will be addressed in the HD version as well.

We'll be getting a look at Clash of Heroes HD this week at the Game Developers Conference. If you have any questions for Capy, be sure to leave a comment below so we can ask them at our meeting tomorrow!

Cool.

Hopefully they'll make Godric not suck compared to everyone else this time. You never, never, never make a CO whose super move is a cheap amount of defense when everyone else gets a big damage attack.

That's really the only problem the game had. Though now I'm curious how they'll format this version. it would have to be horizontally arranged rather than the DS's versions vertical arrangement.

Awesome. This looks like a load of fun.

And I hope this starts a trend of portable games getting console-ized HD treatments.

I can only hope they fix that abominable fight against the giant fat demon that turns all your guys into food. *shakes fist*

Has anyone here played the DS version? I need a good time sink for a vacation in a week or so and Capybara's involvement has my interest. How is it, how does it play, is it good for someone like me who doesn't play a lot of strategy/RPGs?

I wouldn't call it a time sink as it goes fairly quickly (I think I was just at 20 hours?) But I still think it was worth it, if me willing to buy it again on XBLA is any indication.

@superdance - it plays more like a match 3 puzzler than a strategy RPG. There's just leveling up and expendable special units. You get gold and stuff to replace those, though.

Match three units horizontally, you get a wall built for defense
Match three units vertically to set those units on attack.
And there's puzzle chains and such you can do.

@The Silent Protagonist

So almost like a Critter Crunch type game wrapped in a fantasy RPG style?

Will the characters face in more than one direction? That bugged the hell out of me.

I was considering buying it, but...I'll wait for the PS3 version. I need a console time sink more than *another* DS one.

Will there be a Online Multiplayer functionality? cause that's what kinda killed the longlivetiy on the DS version.

Count me in the "double-dip" group. This was one of the most overlooked games of last year because it reeked of shovelware, when in actuality it was a refreshing combination of Puzzle Quest, chess, and fantasy RPGs.

Oh, and I never had problems with Godric; I don't know why the hell everyone complains about that. It's not that hard to grind in this game; just get the dude to a high level and everything is much more manageable. His special power was actually pretty effing helpful against bosses too.

Aww, no PC version?
Might have to pick up the DS one and nab my mum's DS to play it on.

I've only played one Capybara game but they're already one of my favorite studio's. I'm pretty sure that this game will only make me love them even more.

Loved this game. They took match : and made it really feel like a turn based strategy game. I would have preferred a sequel, but oh well.

That screen looks VERY nice and reading what the Silent Protagonist said about the game makes me happy.

Very interested in this!

yes! I've been walking back and forth at my local Best Buy wondering if I should get this even though I haven't finished FFTA2 and SMT: Devil Survivor yet. This would be a great addition to my 360.

They took my suggestion! It's okay, I told them I wouldn't want any monetary compensation for using it.
