Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

As I briefly mentioned earlier, Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono confirmed that the console versions of the title would contain additional content. Among the extras included would be more detailed story information, delivered in the form of in-game engine cut-scenes and fully produced animated prologues and endings for each character.

Capcom were nice enough to show us Ryu's intro at CAPTIVATE last week, and if all of the intros and endings are this well produced, then we definitely have a reason to finish the game with all of the game's characters. The clip cut between a young Ryu watching his master (presumably) in battle with Akuma, and a more mature Ryu going head-to-head with the black-robed devil. Ken, as well as an unnamed grey-haired man, make an appearance towards the end of the clip.

I'm not up to date on my Street Fighter mythology, and despite the clip being fully voiced in Japanese (with English sub-titles), I'm not entirely sure what was going on. But like the title of this post says, it was "mega sweet." Hopefully Capcom will be nice enough to release the clip for public consumption in the near future.

In the meantime, drool over the images, and speculate away.

This is a good and a bad thing. Personally, I've always thought certain characters, such as Ken and Ryu, looked and sounded idiotic in the animes while other characters were done pretty well and had their menacing nature shown well enough.

I think I would have rather they had created animated sequences using their in-game engine or something similar rather than the anime cut scenes.

Alright, I'm calling shenanigans on this bullshit. Who the fuck is the art director of this game, and do they have schizophrenia? So far I've seen three god damn art styles for this game. First you have the Japanese calligraphy inspired teasers and shit, then the actual game art direction which is... odd, now anime cut scenes. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!?

For crying out loud Nick, when you refer to companies, such as Capcom they are single entities. Therefore, they should be referred to as "was" not "were" It is not "Capcom were nice enough..." but, should be "Capcom was nice enough..."

@ sockapal:

I'm going to keep making that mistake over and over again, even though I know it's wrong, just to anger you.

You know, I've gotta say, Sockapal's complaint drives me crazy, too. It's like everyone is so obsessed with trying to get it right that they end up overthinking it and getting it wrong. Or something. "Weezer were"... GRRRR.

Anyway, I can has Chun-Li shower scene? j/k

I am completely neutral on the inclusion of cutscenes in fighting games. Game can have them or not, adds or takes away nothing for me. However having teased us we the trailers sumptuous visuals am a wee bit disappointed
